Randy
Anyone know how many copies of Winter Dreams were sold?
marvin
Randy, this is a question that only Eric (or maybe Bernie) could answer. As you said in your other post, highly unlikely that it sold more than a few thousand copies. No airplay, no promotion, no touring...Marvin

Gregkevinw
all the more reason to do an "internet" only cdfor his loyal fans at ec.com!low cost, loyal fanbase.....
marvin
Tony, myself and others have been saying that for the last couple of years. Most artists who can't get a distribution or record deal are releasing their discs via their website. That's the route the Eagles are likely going to take when (if) they release a new disc - and they CAN get a record deal!Marvin
Craig Benfer
Winter Dreams has taken it's share of bashing, and I will be the first to admit that it is my least favorite of Eric's CDs. I don't agree though that it is terrible. When I compare it to what is released by present day artists, Winter Dreams keeps pace. There are no songs on Winter Dreams that I hate, or none that I love. It is only my opinion that it is substandard to Eric's other releases.
marvin
Exactly the point that I've been making for the last 6 years Craig. If you're going to find a point of reference for "WD", use Eric's own material. There is no way that "WD" matches up to his previous work. I would bet that Eric could cares less how many copies the disc sold because it was probably the music that he wanted to release (even though most of it were covers/old songs) at this point in his life.Marvin
Tony Cartmill
Once Again, "Isn't It Romantic" "Top Down Summer" "Walk Away Renee" "Caroline No" = Great songs and cover remakes. "...Forever Tonight", "Someone...Loved Before" "IWBTLY" = Good songs with overly sappy lyrics. "Almost Paradise" = A bad recording of a good song...7 or 8 good tunes out of 11 is not a bad CD.You must embrace middle-age MOR music and stop pretending to be a hard-living rock & roller. Eric has. Roonie just saw him again buying a deluxe rocking chair at Cleveland House-O-Has-Been's!
mymooladi
I totally enjoy Winter Dreams and I play it all the time. I am thrilled Eric made this album and I hope he makes more. JUNE
LostControl
A better question might be - How many people who post here have bought WD? I didn't - after hearing all the reviews here I took it out from the library and decided it wasn't worth having. An interesting point - of the entire Ottawa Library system - with many many branches, there is only one copy of WD in the whole system. That doesn't bode well for the album...Michelle
marvin
I was so desperate for new EC music, the 14 years between albums...I bought the import from Japan. Should've sent it back to Japan! Marvin
aggiesjc
Bought it from Japan, and listen to it as often as any other EC CD.
marlene
Bought it. LOVE it. Listen to it often. M.
marvin
Bought it, hate it, listened to it (beginning to end) maybe 3x in six years - although I have played selected tracks more often.Marvin
Tony Cartmill
Paid $36 dollars for the import on amazon.comit's worth it. It's Eric Freakin' Carmen people! He's still alive!
Laura
I bought the Japanese and American versions. I did my part to increase the sales of the CD.
Gregkevinw
import....$36.00...worth every penny. play it all the time...tony, i understand your point regarding erics voice at points on the cd, but i simply think that EC's voice is'nt what it used to be. IWBTLY sung by ec 15 years ago would've knocked your socks off! i agree about the chorus it should'nt be repeated so often..but i still love that cd. darlene
Tony, He most definitely is still alive! Just wait until the next CD. Then everyone who thought I was just making "Lemonade" will think again! --Darlene
blackhawkpat
Count me in the Japan $36.00 club, too! (at that price, it should count as three sales for EC!)One of only four CD's I keep in the van(Raspberries Capitol collector Series is one of the others)and just played it yesterday. Gregkevinw
dont hold out blackhawkpat, what are the other 2 cd's you go cruisin" with?
LobsterLvr
I bought both WD CD's. So glad I did. The Japanese know how to package things. Nice graphics. Great pics. And 'Caroline No'. I give WD just as much air play as all the other EC CD's. I'm an equal opportunity player. DAve
LostControl
Well, part of the reason I never bought the album, besides the fact that I rate it right down at the bottom of everything he's done, is that I can't find it anywhere (yes, except in Japan - and even then they're rare). I do miss "Caroline No". I'd like to at least get the chance to say I've heard it.Michelle
marvin
Eric's version of "Caroline,No" is just about the saving grace on "WD" for me. He does a fine job with it, and If he had done a poor version of that lovely song, imagine how much I would've really hated "WD."???Marvin
Gregkevinw
michelle, i'm confused, are you saying that you have never heard the whole "wd" cd? how are you "ranking it" at the bottom then?marvin, i disagree with your opinion on the "caroline no" from WD. i think it drags..i dont hate it,and i never skip it when i play the cd, but i would have rather heard ec do "god only knows" or "dont worry baby". marvin, you and i have'nt disagreed often , but we are worlds apart on WD!
