Matthew C. Clark
I wonder do any of you watch the Osbournes? Did Eric & the Raspberries ever toured with Black Sabbath back then? Is Eric or any of the Raspberries a fan of Ozzy or not? Matt
LostControl
Sadly (or not, I'm not too sure!), we don't receive the Osbournes in Canada yet. We're supposed to be getting them this year however. Are they really as bad as I've heard? They are constatly talked about in People magazine and on Entertainment Tonight, so I have a basic idea of what the show is like. Also, I'm dying to see the Anna Nicole Show, just to see how utterly putrid it really is! Ahh, if I only had a satelite dish! Actually, since our son was born, I haven't had much time for TV, and I try to watch things that are suitable for him when he's around and the TV is on. Even though he is very young, I tried to avoid all 9/11 stuff today, as I don't think he's quite ready to be exposed to so much distruction and violence.Michelle
Raspbernie
Matt-- Why don't you submit that for an ASK ERIC question. I should be getting a new batch to him soon. --Bernie
darlene
"The Osbournes" is unbelievable! I just saw it once or twice and stared at it in numb amazement. Poor Ozzy just sounds like he's in a drug-induced haze, though he's not--it's just the effects of so many years of whatever drugs he's done. It really takes him a long time to think--he sounds so befuddled! But all in all, he sounds like the most intelligent and sane member of that family! --Darlene
aggiesjc
Oh, Darlene! "Numb in amazement!" That's hilarious, because that's an accurate description of me, too, as I watch. It's all pretty repulsive, but I feel compelled to watch, nonetheless. I guess I'm fascinated by Ozzy's relationship with his dogs, since he's done a few animals in by the most gruesome methods. darlene
Aggiesjc: I used to HATE the mention of Ozzy Osbourne's NAME because of that rumor I heard about him killing puppies by batting them into the audience...I never would go see him perform or even want to hear anything about him. Then, I saw him when he was much older on television, and he looks so harmless, I HOPE those animal stories weren't true. I do know the one about biting the bat's head off and getting rabies is SUPPOSED to have happened. Come to think of it, that's rotten. The bat should have bitten HIS head off...Oh well, the bat got revenge. Just look at the family he has to live with. --Darlene
Tony Cartmill
People, people, if you keep watching these brain-rotting reality shows, you are going to put alot of talented TV sitcom and drama episode writers out of a job. Which is just what those sleazy TV executives want you to do. It lowers the payroll. So go back and watch an episode of Scrubs, Fraiser, Friends, and Malcolm in the Middle. Should Ozzie be rewarded for a lifetime of substance abuse and mediocre music? Geeez, he never even looked good when he was young and shirtless. He just looked like your out-of-shape strange neighbor on a bad acid trip that sneaked up on stage and started singing. Now he is an American Icon!...Maybe Bin Laden has a point. Between Rap, Reality TV and Corporate scandals, this country is starting to rot at the core. But the solution is not Hillary Clinton's village socialism. What do you think we should do? Tony Cartmill
...Oh, I forgot to bitch about the problem of too many lawyers, with too much time on their hands, trying to bend, twist and distort what was once a decent justice system of common sense and moral laws. They want America to be a land of "Victims" ready to sue anybody with wealth, and get rich quick. Do we really need so many legal Robin Hoods? I'm sorry, What website is this again? aggiesjc
Tony, your description of Ozzy is CLASSIC! Also, I agree with you on the subject of our country. Despite the fact that I've watched the Osbournes, I think it's pathetic that these people have become idols to a bunch of kids and young adults (and older adults, too ñ who knows?). darlene
Tony, I definitely agree with your post! Time to watch some meaningful shows! (I just have to see at least one episode of these goofy things so I can pretend I'm "up on things.") I also agree with your opinions of lawyers. But one exception is Fred Carmen. HE would have to be a GREAT lawyer. --Darlene
Guest
Maybe Bin Laden has a point. Between Rap, Reality TV and Corporate scandals, this country is starting to rot at the core. But the solution is not Hillary Clinton's village socialism. What do you think we should do?Bin Laden has apoint!! Man you are totally Anti American. Why don't you join Al Queda. To even mention that guys name! If you don't like America there are alot of really nice places you can move to. How about Afghanistan, Somalia, Iraq, Iran, etc... See how many Eric Carmen Cd's you find over there. Rap, Reality TV, Ozzy, whatever it is it's who we are. I'm no rap fan but it's an American artform that originated here just like blues, Jazz, country, Baseball, etc. Furthermore I think Ozzy has written some great music but because this is America you are entitled to your opinion. Remember that!!!
aggiesjc
I'm still with you, Tony, and don't think it's anti-American to recognize and identify our ugly side.
EricH
Totally agree with ya, Tony. Couldn't have said it better myself. Sometimes I think this country is heading right into the toilet. The only good thing for me is, with more and more of this trashy reality TV on, I spend less time watching TV and more time doing productive things. One of the things that rags me the most is the state of music; so much garbage while true artists like EC don't get the respect due them. Tony Cartmill
Stut5, I probably have not listened to enough of Ozzie's music to give him a fair review, but the 2 or 3 hits he has had don't impress me much. Maybe I have to be on some kind of Black Sabbath approved drug to really appreciate him. His duet with Lita Ford was mediocre. As for accepting RAP as a positive American art form. OK, but don't call it music, except for some of the cool drum beats.Does this mean I have to accept gang violence as a right of the American youth to express their anger? Can I treats my womens as biiiatches and ho's like the Rap stars preach to the teenagers who eat up that crap, and then just accept the high percentage rate of rape and domestic violence in this country?I want this country to wake up!We are slowly going in the wrong direction. It was halted for a few months after 9-11, but now we are back on the wrong track. In spite of what our ex-president thinks, It can still be wrong, even if you don't get caught. We need to stand up, look deep inside ourselves, and like Spike Lee says, "Do the right thing" again. And we don't have to "tolerate" what we know is wrong. If more people of power and influence in this country would just do this, we could stop the rotting. And the more the rotting stops, the more popular Eric Carmen music will become again. Amen.P.S. It usually helps if you believe in a higher power and try to live up to his standards...Unless you are a Muslim extremist.

LostControl
Apparently I should be relieved that Canada has not, as of yet, been subjected to Ozzy, and will not be impressed if it does get syndicated here later this year.Hey, maybe that's the reason our crime/violence rate in Canada is so much lower than America's ñ we don't have the Osbournes! (OK people, that was SARCASTIC ñ don't go nuts flaming me here!).Michelle

Matthew C. Clark
My oldest brother Mark Clark was either a freshman or a sophomore in high school when he bought the album Black Sabbath: Vol. 4 back in 1972 or 1973. That album blew me away. That was the first heavy metal album that I heard when I was 8 or 9 years old. I played the song "FX" on a open cookie jar when you open up the handle. There is also a song called "Supernaut" at the beginning of the song which reminds me of the Isaac Hayes song "Theme From Shaft" which my brother Mark had the soundtrack on 8-track tape. Raspbernie
Every kid with a guitar (myself included) rushed out to buy a Fuzz Face just to be able to play that "Iron Man" riff! --Bernie
Tony Cartmill
When you sell your soul to the Devil for fame, Satan usually gives you enough creativity to attract and convert the weak-minded... But did Ozzie write that guitar riff, or did the guitar player? Maybe I should listen to the old Black Sabbath...But I loathe heavy metal. Simdonnaj91258
I have only over heard the show, my son-in-law was watching it once. Ozzy did too many drugs and has deep-fried the brain cells he has left. I can't imagine Eric wasting his cable bill on trash like that show. I feel the same way about "The Anna Nicole Show"If they had a show about Eric, that's a different story. Okay, I am biased, forgive me, but I just don't get the two shows. Ditzy people on drugs...Donna
LostControl
EVIL HAS COME TO CANADAYes, last night at 10 pm I actually sat myself down to watch the show. Besides the swearing, it wasn't as bad as I imagined. This family is basically the same as any other family in the world. Two teenagers who think that their parents are clueless. Parents who have no idea what their children are up to. A wife who runs the house, while everyone around her doesn't pitch in much to help. The only differences are their money, the drug-addled father, and their very odd ways of solving problems. In some ways, the kids are probably better off than most kids with straight parents are. Ozzy gave Kelly a lecture on using condoms if she had sex, and they are open enough with each other to have discussions about things like wearing thong underwear, ob/gyn visits, yeast infections, etc. At least they know they can go to their mother and talk to her about anything. Most children don't have such open relationships with their parents. And if Ozzy isn't a testament to kids on why they should never touch drugs, and I don't know what is!!!YIKES. Now I'm going to sound like a total freak on this message board! Please don't hate me because I wasn't as offended as I should have been.Michelle
Tony Cartmill
Hey, if you have that much spare time on your hands to watch this wonderful show, maybe you can catch what's on Jerry Springer too.
Steveh
Michelle, No need to apologize. Your opinion is just as good as anyone else's. I never saw the show in question, but I agree with your point about kids being able to express themselves to their parents, and parents being honest with their kids. Kids are exposed to everything these days, and they need parents who can calmly listen to their concerns without fear of being put down. (This is a great website about EC and I really hope we don't get into discussions about politics or religion)Steveh
Tony Cartmill
I do see the voyeuristic appeal of watching stupid reality shows like "The Osbournes" and "Anna Nichole Cow" er..."Smith". I know I'm being too hard on Ozzy Brain-Dead and his butt-ugly kids. But how real is it when they know the camera is on them and 2-3 crew members are in the room? Give me a smartly-written episode of "Scrubs" or "Malcolm in the Middle" any day over the Osbournes. The more popular these reality shows become, the more the producers will start having these real people make up conflicts and stories just for better ratings. Then you have another Jerry Springer show. A fake reality show. Lemmings, don't be fooled! It is already happening. Whatever it takes for better ratings...
