Craig Benfer
I'm just curious. How many members of this board actually were fortunate enough to get the Raspberries Greatest Hits that was temporarily available a couple years ago. It had two unreleased Berries songs. "Oh Tonight" & "Please Let Me Come Back Home". BMG music club accidentally shipped a few copies before they were supposed to.
darlene
Craig, That would have been great fortune to get a copy of that. I'm not one of the lucky ones though. Two more new titles to wonder about and wish we could hear...Oh well, I keep thinking "Someday...." --Darlene
okstevens
I was one of the lucky ones who did get a shipment of the greatest hits cd from bmg. Wish I would have ordered more! I would also like to know how many were sent out.Any one still have an interest in trying to put something together for a run at Erics guitar for Bernie? Let me know. I was a little disapointed to see such a minimal responce to the idea considering all that Bernie has done for us.....Jeff
Gregkevinw
I also recieved my "Greatest Hits" thru BMG.The new songs are great, but the biggest suprise to me was the "i saw the light" demo. While the quality is not great the background vocals are much more pronounced (almost Beach Boy-like). I actually like the demo better than the version they released.
Billy
I got lucky to get my copy of the CD put out by BMG -- I am not a member but a friend of mine is -- he ordered 2 and got 2, sold one to me. Somewhere I had heard, when BMG had made this CD available, it was one per customer. Very shortly after sales were shut down.
Craig Benfer
I gotta say that I really like "Oh Tonight". I think it should have been included one of their albums. That's not to say that I don't like "Please Let Me Come Back Home", but it just wouldn't have fit in with anything else that the Raspberries did. Very British invasionish. aggiesjc
Anybody interested in this CD should check out eBay this week. There's an auction for it with a $1,500 Buy-it-Now price!! Holy Cow! Whoever tackles that auction should just go ahead and buy Eric's Return to Fender guitar for Bernie, too, while he/she's at it! Even if you can't fork out the $1,500, check out the auction page for the entertainment of reading the seller's lengthy explanation of the reasons it's for sale. Craig Benfer
$1500 ???!!!!!!!!!!If it sells for even close to that, mine will be for sale next week. Heck, I have a CD recorder.
Donmand
Just heard from an informed source. The unreleased Raspberries Greatest Hits CD is no more. This was the rare Greatest Hits with the 4 famous demo bonus tracks. All CD's in stock at the Capitol Records warehouse have been destroyed. The on-going royalty issues have not been resolved and there is no way 5 of the 6 Raspberries would allow it's official release (without a legitimate payday). The CD existed in 3 versions: -Promo only copy: factory sliver CD in a cardboard sleeve with song titles but no artwork.-Raspberries Greatest Hits - released by the BMG record/CD club. Original factory silver CD with full booklet and CD tray artwork. (This version has the BMG barcode on the back sleeve).-the Rarest version is: Raspberries Greatest Hits with the Capitol logo. Original factory silver CD with full booklet and CD tray artwork. The same version that was destined for retail sale...until now!Let the collector sales on eBay begin!Don
darlene
Donmand, VERY informative! It always amazes me how much some of the Carmen devotees know! We can all go check out Ebay now! Thanks! Darlene
aggiesjc
As I mentioned before, there was one on eBay set at a Buy-It-Now price of $1,500.00. It appears it didn't sell, though some deal may have been struck behind the scenes.
Gregkevinw
Don, great post(info)!i have the BMG version.i am amazed that Capitol went through the expense of remastering and packaging a cd w/o an ok from the raspberries themselves. This was'nt a "huge" loss as record companys go, but it seems like a pretty "emptyheaded" thing to do.
