Zuke
Hey Eric,Was that you heckling Babs the other night? I thought I saw you there.
raspathens
And didn't she handle it in such a classy way? She should have thrown one of her many gold (not platinum) records at whomever the offender was. C'mon Babs, all you need is love.
Tony Cartmill
I'm still impressed with Bab's voice and the song "Stranger In A Strange Land" written by Gibb/Gibb/Gibb from her recent collaboration album with Barry...Sweet! Anybody else heard that tune?
Eric Carmen
I don't think much of her political views, but she is the greatest female pop singer of the last forty years. A little humility would go a long way for her, but I guess that's just not her style. She is, after all, just a girl from Brooklyn. ec
ira
The reviews in 2 new York papers.....Singing was great-but singing was just part of her show.Political ramblings and even a "Lame" routine riffing on a "Bush" look-alike onstage were part of this extravaganza. Can you imagine going to the "Raspberries" Reunion and finding that singing is only "part" of the show which also features a 20 minute rant about "Capitol Records".To quote "Rock Icons"-"Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods"-(Babs) "Who do You Think You Are?"Hey is Bo appearing anywhere/ I suddenly got a hankering to hear "Billy Don't Be A hero" followed by a 20 minute "Anti-War" rap. -Ira. Robin23
I agree, to quote a well-known radio talk show host..."just shut up and sing". I DO NOT want to know the political views of my favorite artists. A phrase I often use with my students...KEEP IT SIMPLE. Why ruin things by trying to take a stand on controversial issues that really have no right or wrong answer? I prefer to just get along with everyone, and don't look for things to debate about. I think if all of us made the effort to work together and be happy...this world would be a better place. We don't need to be on one side or the other. Find the joy in each other. Let's go Mets!Robin
danmichel
Barbra Streisand is what she is...A fantastic and very popular singer who has decided to use her popularity to further her political and social causes...Sometimes you have to accept more than you bargained for...to get what you came for. Bob Allen
I'd hate to have to see her naked. (Plus, it's very apparent that she's quite challenged in the sense of humor dept.)
Tony Cartmill
Everybody is, Bob, when compared to Bea...
Paulie Mississippi
I'd hate to have to see her naked. (Plus, it's very apparent that she's quite challenged in the sense of humor dept.) And here she was planning to take it all off for you...
Bob Allen
You're both very bad boys. And, if we include Bea, that's three very bad boys.

Did you ever see the cover of her "Superman" LP? She was wearing nothing but a Superman T-shirt. Nice wheels!!
Bob Allen
I'm sure them 'old wheels ain't quite like they used to be.
Paulie Mississippi
Foolin', that Big "S" would stand for "Saggy" now I'm afraid... at least mine does...
Tony Cartmill
You guys "Shut the F--- Up" about my Babs! You know it's George Bush's fault that she has let herself go a bit. If Clinton was still in the White House, Babs would still fit into that Superman T-shirt!
MikeC
Yes, Tony, I have the double-set CD/DVD. Barbara recorded alot of vocals at home. She sings the song live, from a studio, to the CD/DVD I have. Barry put alot of work, and it wasn't easy getting the ideas together, because they both have passion for their work. Whoever had the most zeal on a particular part of each song, usually won the other over. With name-calling. Just kidding!
darlene
I don't agree with her political views nor the way she chooses to present them, but I'm glad Eric defended Babs' talent. She is a gifted artist and I lived with her albums all through college. I fell in love with the way she sings. I can't let my distaste for anything else she does ruin my appreciation of her musical offerings. I think she's also a talented actress and director. Tony Cartmill will cringe, but I absolutely LOVED her in "Funny Girl." Fanny Brice always interested me, and I thought Babs was great in the film. All ghat said, I don't know what her show is like now, but I don't think the "humor" part of it sounds like her musical standards of excellence, and I don't know what her performance was like this time around. I hope she still has the magic she had. --Darlene
Muzza
Darlene, Kiwi and I enjoyed her in Yentl. We enjoy her music and fortunately it seems her political views haven't been revealed here in New Zealand so we see her in a different light to you guys.Muzza
Tony Cartmill
"For a stranger, in a strange land, far away..."That's Babs' best song on the new B.Gibb CD and she's singing about Muzza!
julesberry
Babs is asking 50k for her Meet and Greets! I can think of alot of other "charities" I would contribute to for that chunk of change. No average person could possibly afford that, I guess she just couldn't hobnob with normal folk. darlene
Babs is in with the Hollywood crowd for a long long time now. That's what they do--ask 50K for a meet and greet. She was different in the old days. What she and so many of the other very gifted ones in Hollywood is a function of their getting used to wielding tremendous power. They start believing their own press and lose touch with their true "old" selves. They also do what's "in" and what will keep them in the "in crowd." That's pretty sad to have to do. Inside somewhere, she's still "the girl from Brooklyn," as Eric put it so well. That's the Babs I love--the talented one that was unspoiled. The one that could style a song from the depths of her heart and make you cry. --Darlene
