hollies65
No. Eric goes in as a Berrie.
angelina
Like Tom Seaver goes in the baseball HOF as a Met....so Eric goes in as a Raspberry.John
Brian Mc Carthy
TIMEOUT ! i mean he has the credentials to get in ALSO as a solo artist He can get in TWICE Jeff Beck just did SO why not Eric Twice Thats what i meant YIKES
rockynrobyn1977
I also think he should be in as a RASPBERRY first.I don't understand how this works. Why can't he do both? When he does a show with the RASPBERRIES,doesn't he also do his solo material too? Or am I wrong?
Tim From Wisconsin
Why are people YELLING? Please step away from the "Caps Lock" button. There's no doubt that Eric has influenced and inspired other artists, and has been an astounding talent for decades now, but whether or not that will ever lead to a solo nomination remains to be seen. Raspberries, on the other hand, could genuinely be up for consideration soon if the powers that be can recognize that they are certainly worthy - This past Friday night didn't hurt! It would be cool to have all of my favorites in the Hall together someday!Raspberries / Eric Carmen soloBlack Sabbath / Ozzy Osbourne solo (Yes, I know it's already happened for Ozzy & Sabbath) TimTim
Brian Mc Carthy
Nice post Tim I think we were all YELLING so the HOF Commitee would hear us !
rockynrobyn1977
Now probably is the best time for this to happen for him, because there is new generation of kids who are into the 80's music, and they are into the "Dirty Dancing" which has exposed them to the song "Hungry Eyes" and "MMLC".My daughter is 18 and she also loved the demo version too. missy
Eric deserves two times no question about it.
angelina
I didn't hear any yelling. Must be my head cold. IMHO one of the reasons Raspberries and Chicago haven't been nominated is actually due to the "Adult Contemporary" success of EC's solo career..and Chicago's hit making prowess from Chicago 13 on. I know it sounds ironic ..but I think these two acts have suffered critically due to their commercial success. Therefore...just not hip enough. Now if that isn't absurd!Just my OTC-cold-medicine-filled groggy opinion.John
hollies65
As far a 'Rock & Roll' goes...Eric goes into the R&R HOF as a Raspberrie. My guess is that Eric agrees with this.
angelina
Makes sense to me Steve. Of course Eric deserves a special spot in the Songwriter's HOF.John
Donna L
Definitely 2X ..... The Raspberries are fantastic musicians and Eric is a musical genius.
blackhawkpat
Great suggestion, Brian. I'm sure there are some people in there twice for band work and solo work. I've always been a fifty/fifty guy (not that there's anything wrong with that!) on Raspberries/Eric music, enjoying both, so why not?
blackhawkpat
As a matter of fact, now that I think about it, I'm quite certain that the Drifters are in there twice as a band because of the shifting of their lineup so many times over the duration of their career. blackhawkpat
Hat trick for Patrick.....a quick looksee shows that three of the Beatles are in as soloists and the group, Michael Jackson and the Jackson Five, Eric Clapton and Cream (and the Yardbirds), Jeff Beck and the Yardbirds, Paul Simon and Simon and Garfunkel. So, it doesn't happen often, but it does happen.
marvin
Sam Cooke is in as a solo artist as well as a member of the Soul Stirrers, and Jeff Beck was inducted this year as a solo artist.
TOMMY TUNES
Eric's best shot into the HOF is as a Raspberry. Let's not put the cart before the horse. Raspberries first then we can work on the solo career.
hollies65
I don't have any doubts as to Eric's fine solo career and his superb songwriting...I think many do not understand the R&R HOF. When Eric goes in, it will be as a memeber of the Raspberries.
blackhawkpat
Well, you can count me in as someone who doesn't understand the HOF. How can bands that made such a long lasting impact and had consistent radio hits like Chicago and the Hollies not be in?
marvin
..I think many do not understand the R&R HOF. When Eric goes in, it will be as a memeber of the Raspberries. As much as the people on this board might think Eric is deserving to be inducted as a solo artist, the reality is that those who are in charge of nominating / inducting for the Hall are clueless to the signifincance of Raspberries, and probably less informed about Eric's solo career. blackhawkpat
Steve:I'm not clear on your point. Are you agreeing with me that bands like those should be in due to long standing consistency and impact or are you saying that I don't understand the correct criteria? If it is the latter, what would you say is the correct criteria for entry?
