sterling
Some members have speculated as to what other cover version the Berries might play. Does anyone remember a group called "The Left Bank"? I saw them open a concert for the Beach Boys in Feb 1967. They were very good! Someone has mentioned that Eric has done either "Pretty Ballerina" or "Walk Away Renne"...both hits for this band. What do you think?Phil
Jerry
There are many Left Banke fans on this message board. I recommend going to the "Search" feature that Raspbernie has provided for the forum, enter either Left Banke, Ballerina, or Renee, and it will take you to the entries. mannoman
I think it would be hysterically funny and loosen up the crowd (not that they need to be much looser) if they did a cover of "Stacey's Mom." Ted
Brian
From long ago...in The Cyrus Erie,Eric & the band did songs like(adjust your memories, now!)Pretty Ballerina,She May Call You Up Tonight,Walk Away Renee, Love Is Blue(Paul Mauriet), Anyone Who Had a Heart(Dion Warwick),many great Small Faces tunes,of course, many Beatles covers, including Something...Golden Slumbers...The End... Shakin All Over...even Neil Young tunes...Positively 4th St.... Street Fightin Man...oooohhh the memories live on!!!
Billy K.
"Pretty Ballerina" is one of those tunes that(crininally)gets ignored by oldies stations.....just as in the case of Los Bravos' "Bring a Little Lovin"----they play the big smash first hit but ths stations ignore the second, lesser hit.......but it is still a HIT, so why not play it??Can't remember the last time I heard either of those songs. beachberry
Brian, Remember the Berries doing "No Matter What" in the clubs along with some Bee Gees songs that I cant think of now?
Brian
Vaguely...I remember No Matter What...I DO remember them playing "Birdie Told Me" from Horizontal...of course, I Can't See Nobody... it would be fun to reconstruct an actual set list from the Cyrus Erie/ Raspberrie days. They were tremendous getting that Who sound! Thundering syncopated bass & drums with biting 12-string guitar!
Gregkevinw
brian, beachberry, "no matter what" would be my choice. when we were in the chat room, bernie mentioned that he had a version....that would make a great mp3 IMO!
MAM
"No Matter What" was the very first song I heard them play back in 1971. I was hooked instantly. They also did a killer version of "Knights In White Satin".
Brian
Also,"Tuesday Afternoon",...those compositions are so well done..ANYONE doing a cover of those classics nowadays would enjoy some success...hence, car commercials use a large percentage of 60's songs. Do you think years from now, car commercials will use Eminen & Britny Spears songs???
mymooladi
Brian what a horrible thought! No offence to anyone but I'm to old to go there.June
Matthew C. Clark
The song is called "Nights In White Satin" NOT "Knights In White Satin" by The Moody Blues. Was it "My World" or "Saved By The Bell" or the song "Alive" by The Bee Gees that The Raspberries performed back then?? Matt
