Chris Rea

Recommended Posts

Chris Rea had a big hit called "Fool (If You Think It's Over)" on the United Artists label back in the Summer of 1978. That song went to number #12 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart & number #1 on the Adult Contemporary Chart. His other hits include "Whatever Happened To Benny Santini?" (also from 1978), "Diamonds" (from 1979)(the flip side of the 45 was called "Cleveland Calling"), "On The Beach" (from 1989), "Working On It" (also from 1989) & "The Road To Hell" (from 1990). Matt

Have not checked in for awhile...good to see comments re: the summer of '72 and folks' memories of hearing the best radio single of all time (for me it was the shores of Chaumont Bay in Northern New York). I understand Pat Pierson, editor of the great pub 'Yeah, Yeah, Yeah' plans a little something special for the next issue regarding the 30th anniversary of this pop gem.

As for Chris Rea, those of you not familiar w/ his music should do yourselves a favor. Download the outstanding "Goodbye Columbus" to get a good feel for this master songwriter/singer. You will not be disappointed.

Cheers! Bob Allen

Randy actually introduced me to Chris Rea's music when we first "met" here in your website, Bernie, back in the days when your page counter was still in DOUBLE DIGITS!!! While I'd not rate Eric as second to him, it is some good music, and worth a listen.
