A collection of reflections

About a month ago I decided to put to paper what the 'berries mean to me. I then solicited the opinions of some other people on the Message Board for their views. Let me tell you that this became a very enlightening experience as I received some really touching stories from people about what the band means/meant to them.

With Bernie's blessing, I've decided to take this to a larger audience. So what I'm trying to do is collect the words and thoughts from as many fans as possible about the Raspberries (what the band means to you etc.), and I would then like to put all of this together and present it to the band at the reunion concert. I mentioned this idea to Kay Bryson and she even agreed that the band would love to read something like this, 'cos in truth, who knows this band better than the fans who've followed them for 30+ years? So if you are interested in participating and have a few minutes to write down some notes, please send me your reflections. Don't worry about length, grammar etc., it's the sentiment that will matter.

Thanks in advance.

Marvin

Raspberries music to me relects the eternal feelings of youth and and realtionships... both on a personal and an emotional level.

Wally Bryson was a (and still is) a guitar mentor and I follwed them ( Mods, Choir,Cyrus Erie) around Mentor and Clevlabd area... and copied as much as I could absorb of his/their playing styles... as I also was playing in local bands at this time and have follwed all the Berries music thru various line-ups. I moved to St. Louis around the time of Raspberries inception, but continued to take thier sense of muical style with me . I always considered Mentor to be "Liverpool of America"

Between the lyrics and solid vocals and musical arragemmnets, I always remember this time as truly inspirational to my development as a guitar player and songwriter. Still to this day I have this sound deeply engrained in my playing and writing syle... Of course I have a day job(computer sales to national accts) but continue to to enjoy all these years of guitar playing and attempts at song writing which I have surpised my self more then a few occasions

I am very thrilled that they have resolved all internal issues between each other and I have so much anticiaption to what lies ahead in thier careers both as Raspberries and individual musicains

I've received some wonderful, touching stories so far. Some have brought a tear to my eye (thanks Larry!), while others have been filled with so much musical history (Yeah Ted!), that I've been given a new appreciation for the breadth of knowledge on this Message Board. So please those who have not yet contributed and want to do so, get your stories to me.

Thanks.

Jennifer sorry to bump you down the list a bit, but I'd like to let everyone know that I'm setting a deadline of Friday, November 5th for your respective "reflections" stories. This will give Bernie enough time to get it on the website prior to the concert, and it will give me enough time to put together a nice package to present to the band.

Thank you for all your efforts.

Gentle reminder: FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 5th is the deadline for you to send me your reflections.

The final package won't be as impressive looking as Bernie's book, but it will still be something I think the band will be happy to receive - and it's from the fans.

Thanks.

Everyone should really try to contribute to this project. Marvin has done yeoman work trying to get this together. I was fortunate enough to have him share his with me early and it is really great. I think this is a project that the group will really appreciate and I think everyone here should be a part of. It doesn't matter if it is two lines or a novel.

Good point. I was initially hesitant, thinking I'd need to write something highly detailed and long-winded to get my feelings across. With Marvin's urging, I decided to put together a shorter version of what this band means to me, and am glad I did. The amount I paid for my first Raspberries album, the name of the store where I bought it, and what time of day I bought it aren't in there, but my sentiments are, and that's what counts.

Thanks for the kind words Pat and Jennifer. Now it's time for everyone else who has not yet contributed to climb on board. Wally has read some of the stories and has been fascinated by the level of devotion of Raspberries fans. Kay's exact words to me were that he was "touched." Scott has told me that he "can't wait to receive" his copy.

All I can say is "thank you", "thank you" and one more, "thank you." I have laughed, I have cried; your stories have moved me like you cannot believe, and I know you will illicit the same emotions. My wife thinks I'm nuts, but you know what? I've waited 34 years for these moments, and the wait has finally become worth it. Send me more, send me more!
