Tony Cartmill
I caught part of the E True Hollywood Story on the movie "Dirty Dancing". About halfway through the 2 hour show, there was Eric commenting on how crazy the Dirty Dancing tour was. For anybody who has seen it, Did they show any more or comment about Eric beyond that 10 second snip? His voice seems so low when he talks verses when he sings... Lydia
I didn't catch the show but thanks for the tip. I have several recordings of Eric's interviews and his speaking voice is real whispery, low and smoky. Nothing like his singing voice. Sort of like a Gomer Pyle/Jim Nabors thing..but in a real sexy way.Lyd
darlene
Somehow I don't see the Gomer Pyle thing, but I think I saw Eric commenting on the Dirty Dancing tour on something else. I just love his speaking voice. It is low, soothing and sexy, yep, just like I knew it would be. -- Darlene
aggiesjc
I saw that E! special on Dirty Dancing too (though I usually try to avoid that channel), and I'm pretty sure that little snippet was all they showed of Eric.
Raspbernie
Eric's speaking voice is a whole lot lower than his singing voice. I think I'll try and find a cool interview with Eric to put up for the next MP3 file. --Bernie
aggiesjc
What a great idea, Bernie! I'd love to hear something like that!
Betsey
Tony, I saw that piece several months ago and I believe that is all Eric says in it. It was somewhat disappointing, wasn't it?
Lydia
Please don't be offended Darlene...I meant no insult! I only meant that you would never figure that the singing voice and the speaking voice come from the same person.Lyd
marvin
I've got a great WMMS radio interview with Eric on tape recorded around the time when he was having a resurgence with "Hungry Eyes." He reveals a lot of things about the 'berries break-up and his relationship with Wally, and yes, his speaking voice is a lot lower than his singing voice.MARVIN
darlene
Lyd, No offense taken. Marvin, I'm jealous. Wish I had that WMMS interview on tape. Well, you could always share it with Raspbernie for the next mp3...Now THAT would be a gift! --Darlene
marvin
Darlene I'll make you a copy. Just send me your address off-line.Regards,MARVIN

Ellece
Bernie, that would be great if you did MP3 a speaking interview with Eric! I'd love to have a copy of something like that. Marvin, is there any way you could make your tape available online, maybe as an MP3?
aggiesjc
I second that, Ellece! Can you do it for us, Marvin?
marvin
Ellece if I knew how to make an MP3 copy of my tape, I'd do it. I don't mind making copies of the interview for others out there. Email me off-line if you want a copy, and a blank casette (45min) would suffice in return.MARVIN
Julie
I haven't actually done it yet, but I think you can convert music to MP3's with the latest Windows Media Player. At least, I'm pretty sure that you can convert an MP3 to other formats, so I would guess you can do the reverse. I converted the latest MP3 to another format so I could burn it to a CD. Of course, if you don't have a way to get the music file into the computer, that's a whole other problem..... Sorry, I'm starting to sound like a computer geek, and while I excel in some areas... well, you get the picture --Julie
