The Raspberries

"Live on Sunset Strip"

GENRE: 70s rock

WHO SHOULD GET IT: Anyone who went to high school from 1972-1974 will know, love and appreciate this disc. The rest of us who weren't born yet might enjoy this trip down history lane.

Eric Carmen Proud

of Bruce Springsteen's Involvement

in Raspberries Live Set

By Howie Edelson

Out today (July 31st) is Raspberries On Sunset Strip, the band's first new album in nearly 33 years. The set, which was taped live at the band's last reunion show in 2005 at the House Of Blues in Los Angeles, features a bonus DVD of five songs, as well as a CD including the band's biggest power pop favorites, including "Tonight," "Let's Pretend," "Ecstasy," "I Wanna Be With You," and the group's signature tune, the 1972 Top Five hit "Go All The Way."

Bandleader Eric Carmen posted on the message board of his official website (ericcarmen.com) saying how happy he was that Bruce Springsteen, a longtime Raspberries fan, decided to write the album's liner notes, posting that, "I'm a big Bruce Springsteen fan... When we sat down to try and decide who should write the liner notes there were various names that came to mind. Bruce was my first choice... I can't think of anyone else I would have rather had write those liner notes."

He added that in addition to working in the same New York City studio and sharing various engineers in the '70s, over the years the two acts have formed a sort of mutual admiration society with each other: "I do think there's an 'overlap' between the Raspberries and Bruce Springsteen, although it may not be immediately obvious to everyone... Go back and listen to 'Jungleland' and 'She's The One' and 'Born To Run.'Then listen to 'Overnight Sensation' and 'I Wanna Be With You' and 'Starting Over' and some of the stuff on The River."

Carmen says he considers Springsteen not only an inspiration, but a kindred spirit: "The thing that I like most of all about Bruce is that he totally gets it. You know, he totally gets what rock and roll is. And you go back and listen to the Born To Run album and it's like, he learned from all the same records we did.'

The Raspberries are eying live dates for sometime later in the year, with some overseas dates possibly in the works as well.

Live dates are good news!

(ENDQUOTE) -- (NEWQUOTE)

Lookie what I posted over on Raspberries Forums

a while back:

I tend to think they will do some touring in conjunction with the release of the live album. It only makes sense and they ( and many others ) know there is some money to be made. Interest is

increasing in the Raspberries all the time (e.g. re-release of albums in Japan). Next tour may have an international flavor to it.

LOL Raspy. When Bonnie & I saw Raspberries at the 2nd show in NYC, we used it as a romantic Anniversary getaway to Manhattan. We're both originally from NYC so we know our way around.

But I think we FINALLY paid off the Ritz Carlton bill last week from Visa. LOL

That's okay. We'll look forward to an Anniversary date in another city for the next tour.
