Randy
Was EC smoking any cigs during the show? Just wondered if he finally kicked the bad habit. I'd like to see him hang around for awhile.
JuliaD
I didn't see him with any cigarettes, but I'm pretty sure he's still breathing polluted air, drinking polluted water, eating fruits and vegetables sprayed with insecticides, eating meat loaded with hormones and radiation, and doing a thousand other things per day that cause cancer. In the end, he's gonna die just like the rest of us.
Art
WOW! I do some of that too. My days are numbered.

BadfingerBarb
Randy, He didn't smoke during the show, but I heard that he was smoking during the soundcheck.
Lawyer fan
Fear not. The "Honorable" Frank Sinatra smoked almost to the end and he hung around till he was 81; his voice a few years less.
LostControl
If he continues to hang out with Wally, he's gonna have second hand smokers lung pretty soon anyway - from what I read, Wally practically chain smoked through the whole gig at the HoB. Not that Eric never smoked in the past either. Those poor lungs have taken a beating.
JuliaD
You didn't, but apparently I did
darlene
If Eric is smoking, it hasn't affected his voice one bit. I believe Bernie mentioned that he cut down quite a bit. Never having been a smoker, I only know from friends, but some people have to taper off. I'd be happier if everyone could quit, for the sake of their health (Wally, are you reading?!), but every individual has to weigh pros and cons and make that decision singlehandedly. (That said, I still hope everyone quits!) --Darlene
JuliaD
I never smoked either, not even once. But my mom did, and cigarettes are not what caused her death. My mom loved smoking, she even asked me to bury a pack of cigarettes with her, which I did. Personally, I don't get the attraction. But I love love love charbroiled hamburgers, and I know if my doctor said "stop eating these and you'll live longer", my reaction would be "but without hamburgers, it'd be a life of hell"... I guess she felt the same way. The day I can no longer eat hamburgers, just euthanize me, please.
marlene
I can't help but post on this thread..I think it's an occupational quirk! The effects of smoking are well documented and evidence based....and there is more help for those who wish to stop smoking than ever before. Nicotine replacement options, smoking cessation classes, medications to keep you from climbing the walls, etc. Eric's an intellegent man capable of making the right choices for HIM. I tried smoking when I was a teenager, (who didn't, right?) but it made me SO sick...every time. I just couldn't do it. As JuliaD said, there are so many things we're exposed to.... JuliaD
Michael, you're entitled to your opinion, but I have to be honest here, I think a blanket statement like that is unkind. My mother was anything but dumb, and she never would have called someone else dumb. That's just not nice.
Tony Cartmill
OK, people who smoke have decided that giving in to their addiction is worth losing 5-10 years off the end of their life. For some people:"Life is not how many breaths you take, but how many black tar lung cookies you hack up in the morning""Mmmmmmmmmmm, Lung cookies..." Kirk
Every venue is smoke free in California (except the Indian casinos), so we can all breath a little easier when the Raspberries make it to California. Kirk.
aggiesjc
Kirk, being in Cleveland reminded me that other states still allow smoking in restaurants and other venues. I've gotten so used to everything being smoke-free at home that it seemed very strange. Seems the only other times I get out of the state these days, it's over the border into Nevada, and I take it for granted that there's smoke in the casinos. Also, I like how you phrased that line "...WHEN the Raspberries make it to California." Keep your fingers crossed!Jennifer
