julesberry
The one copy that we found at Best Buy was the regular version at $14.99. There was also one copy of the Greatest Hits CD that we picked up (even though we already have it). Now there is nothing in their Raspberries bin. This should send up a flag that they need to reorder !
raspberrywine
Couldnt wait till the deluxe package showed up, we listened to the 13 song version last night. Its extraordinary. Ofcourse we all love the songs, but theres a powerfulness and grittiness to the overall sound that reminds a person again that Raspberries can rock. Some people forget that. The recent journalist who questioned Raspberries rocking credentials is insane. Its apparent everywhere. I think the overall sound quality of Erics voice, combined with the sound of Wallys guitar, make the bands sound distinct and impressive on the recording. Its a unique sound to hear that level of rocking with very beautiful backing vocals. Daves voice very nice also on this recording. Daves bass could have come up in the mix a bit at times. I think Overnight Sensation, Dont Want to Say Goodbye, Should I Wait, and Im a Rocker are mind blowing. Everything else great also ofcourse. I am so glad we went to LA for this concert and to have this momento of that gig. One can only hope the group backs up the release with a concert somewhere soon. Its a unique sound to hear that level of rocking with very beautiful backing vocals. We also couldn't wait until next week. The sound is impressive, but for this engineers/producers ears, Jennifer's a little too hot in the mix. Just my opinion though. It's sure as hell ain't gonna stop me from enjoying a NEW RASPBERRIES RELEASE! YAHOOOOOOOOO!

Al K
Our best friends right now are the INDIE RETAILERS in your various cities - these are the true "music" people who in many cases totally "get" Raspberries, their place in music history, and the importance of this release to the fans. The Indie stores are the stores you need to seek out - they will more than likely have the CD's in stock.
Al K
As for conventional "major" retailers, your best bets are with the Virgin stores and FYE, and stores that buy their inventory either direct from the labels and sub distributors (one-stops) and that are not "rack jobbed" - which means that they receive their inventory from an outside national sub-distributor who totally controls their stocking and re-stocking. Wal Mart and K-Mart stores are stocked by a rack jobber.
Brian Mac
And a good record company stomps on the face of a rack jobber who won't carry one of it's top new releases.
Margaret
For those of you in New England, Newbury Comics has both versions; I found it right in the front of the store in the New Music display... or their web site has the digipack for $19.95 and the 13-song CD for $12.85. http://www.newburycomics.com
Al K
Thanks, Margaret...So the message seems to be loud and clear - Support your Indie retailer, as they are support Raspberries!Everyone: please keep posting your local stores for all to see - we'll develop a database and properly thank them for their support. JohnO
The only problem with the list Bernie posted above is that it's still up to the individual stores in even the larger chains (Barnes & Noble, Best Buy, Circuit City) to order and stock the CDs.....I hit every Barnes & Noble and BestBuy in the Wash,DC and Va. suburbs area last night - no luck, except 1 copy of the regular version at a Borders. Sadly, even the two best indie retailers, Melody and Olssons, had no copies of any version...
Trindy
Babysis, there's still a Borders in Beachwood? Where did it move to after it left the quarters currently occupied by Sushi Rock? Did it go right into Beachwood Place, or what?
sterling
I just got back from my hunt for Live on Sunset Strip. Not too bad. I went to Best Buy and they had nothing. By, the way this is in Rockford, IL. I then went to Borders on E.State and Perryville and they had one copy so now they are sold out. I bought the 13 song CD. The price was listed at $17.99 but since I had a Borders card I received a 30% discount which put the final cost with tax at $13.63. Not too bad. I feel good after that purchase. I am not sure of the other availability in Rockford. Maybe Laura has had some luck.Phil

Trindy
OK, you can't see it from the road anymore, I gather...thanks. I thought it had just been done away with altogether.I hate it when a bookstore dies!
Gene
I got a copy of the fancy version today at Horizon Records in Greenville, SC. Actually they got it overnight for me. The guy said he had been looking it over and noticed Bruce wrote the liner notes. I also picked up a second CD version to give to someone (I had to go to another store for it). The young fellow at the register knew the band and said his father was a big fan. I left the special "Bernie flyer" at both locations and they said they'd put it up. Then I went to Best Buy and knocked over all the display racks. Well, most of this story is true.
Al K
The Trans World Entertainment group, a national chain of retail music stores - FYE, Coconuts, Wherehouse Music, Strawberries, Spec's Music, Planet Music, Sam Goody, etc. - has FAR AND AWAY been the national retailer that has best supported this release . The website is below for you to locate the stores and locations in your area. http://www.twec.com/corpsite/stores/ And again, the independent music stores have been very supportive. Find a local indie store and ask for it - even if they don't have it, they can usually get it back in stock within a couple of days...generally the indies are much quicker at re-stocking than the national chains. Thanks,Al

Don_Krider
Forget the 4 to 7 week wait at Amazon.Com, they now have both the Deluxe and the Standard versions of "Live On Sunset Strip" listed as "in stock" again. It's also obvious that the Deluxe Edition is the one that is selling. Amazon updates sales rankings every hour (these are only their sales, mind you), and as I write this:The Standard edition --- http://www.amazon.com/Live-Sunset-Strip-...9570&sr=1-2 --- ranks at #4,325(Jim Bonfanti drum roll, please) The Deluxe Edition --- http://www.amazon.com/Live-Sunset-Strip-...9570&sr=1-1 --- has risen from #331 yesterday to #251 today (as of this hour)With the VH-1 Classic commercials airing at the same time, Amazon having the titles "in stock" again is a huge plus, and shows that Rykodisc must be rushing to fill orders for retailers. Having the Deluxe Edition sell out twice at Amazon.Com before the album has been out for a week (remember, it hit the "streets" only six days ago) should be a great sales tool for Rykodisc in encouraging more retailers to carry the title, too.I have to believe that having a title sell out twice at Amazon must have taken both the retailer and the record label by surprise. It can only increase the label's interest in the band.I've seen a lot of negatives posted here about Rykodisc, but Rykodisc was bought by Warner Music Group (one of the four biggest record labels) in 2006, so they aren't some independent in the woods label without major label support. I really think the label, in this case, is trying hard to meet the "unexpected" demand for the album (we have to be honest, getting retailers to carry product by an act that last charted with "Raspberries Best" in 1976 was probably a hard sell at first, but now the band is proving again that it still has strong sales power). Read about them at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rykodisc .Don Krider http://www.epinions.com/content_393207123588

Raspberries4ever
MAM's post 8/1/07 -- "The sound is impressive, but for this engineers/producers ears, Jennifer's a little too hot in the mix."MAM, I hesitated to say that, but I feel the same way. When I listened to the Don Hurley show, I told my husband, if that's the sound they're going for, that's great -- but all I'm hearing is Jennifer Lee. She's great, don't get me wrong, but there is certainly alot of her on most of the songs.
hollies65
Well...she's singing the top...you always hear that high part. That's how I became such a Graham Nash fan..."Who's singing that high harmony?'...as a 8 year old that was my first thought hearing a Hollies song. Ha!
