JuliaAllByMyself
Hi ~ Does anyone know the Waukesha area? Are there hotels near the venue? What’s the area like? Any information gratefully received ! Thanks !
Galveston Island
We live fairly close to Waukesha and I work even closer. Waukesha is a nice area close to Milwaukee. I passed by the Expo Center yesterday and I remember seeing a Marriott Hotel across the freeway... I'm sure there are more. I'll do a little checking and email you back channel. Where are you coming from? Steve and Cindy
wallytosa
Hi Julia. The Country Springs Hotel is really close just west on Interstate 94 and is probably one of the biggest and nicest places to stay in Waukesha. They even have an indoor waterpark that just opened. http://www.countryspringshotel.com/default.aspx However, if you venture east into Milwaukee, there are many places, obviously. It's only a 20 minute drive to Milwaukee, and only about 10 minutes to Brookfield, where there's also an Embassy Suites, and other hotels. Are you really going to come to the Waukesha show? It will be good to see you again. Paula and I haven't been to a show since the Cleveland one in November. And if you stay another 4 days, you could check out Milwaukee's Summerfest - the world's largest and best music festival.
sterling
Jeff(Mr. Razzy),What do you know about a Wisconsin group called The BoDeans? I have heard some good things about them here in Illinois. They are going to be at Ravinnia in Chicago this summer. I might go see them. Know nothing about them. I will be in Waukesha 6/26. Last saw the Berries at their last concert at HOB Chicago. Can't wait to see them again!!Phil
wallytosa
Phil,The BoDeans are probably one of the best bands ever to come out of Wisconsin. They've had a few hits, mostly in the late 80s and early 90s, but they are a fantastic live band and known mostly for their performances. They have a huge following...they put on quite a show - it's very lively and they have fun. I haven't seen them in years, but I'm sure they're just as good. They wouldn't be headlining at the 40,000 seat Marcus Ampitheater at Summerfest on Friday, July 8 for nothing. Go see them. They're from Waukesha, too. Keith Nivan
Out of Towners:Do yourselves a favor; lunch, dinner (not sure if they're open for breakfast, but they hould be!) http://www.culvers.com/ ... Awfully good ...
Tim From Wisconsin
Now, Now...We have Pizza that is cut in triangles too - lol -! I'm not sure what the Apple thing is that you are trying to think of. Maybe an Apple Kringle, and Apple Fritter, or an Apple Danish? Anyone attending the show should check out the food at Saz's. They will be one of the food vendors in Waukesha.
Keith Nivan
Is this what you we're thinking of: http://www.hollyeats.com/WalkerBrothers.htm More of a Chicagoland specialty, I'm afraid, but worth the drive down on Sunday AM, perhaps!!!As for Saz's, I was there last week for lunch: Cheddar Bacon Burger, medium -- with LOTSO ice tea, thanks... http://www.sazs.com/restaurant/index.html Definitely worth a stop.New York: shopping, culture, the lights of BroadwayDenver: The scenic Rockies, crisp mountain airCleveland: R&R Hall of Fame; the Agora; all that Berries VibeMilwaukee: FOOD!!!"Keith"
wallytosa
Saz's ribs are to die for - their specialty!Don't forget about... Milwaukee: BEER!!!We even have a little baseball field named after a beer - Miller Park (Brewers).Sprecher is a great local brew, as is the New Glarus Brewery - their Spotted Cow is the best! (only in Wisconsin with that name!)
JuliaAllByMyself
Hi, Steve, Jeff (Mr Razzy) ~ Thank you SO much for your help! We’re opting for a hotel near the venue as the airport seems so far away. We’re really looking forward to it, although it’s scary going somewhere we haven’t even heard of! I had a choice ~ should I go to an Osmonds (Wayne, Merrill, Jay and Jimmy), David Cassidy, David Essex and the Bay City Rollers gig, or should I give my ticket away (again!) and go and see Raspberries….. I hope I’ve made the right decision (only joking!)
KC
Julia (Or anyone else traveling to the Waukesha concert)There are no hotels right next to the Waukesha Expo Center. The closest hotels to the Taste of Summer festival are found a few miles away. The closest of which are the “Comfort Suites Lake Country†and Milwaukee Marriott West. Both of these are newer and very nice hotels, but these are not in business area and require a longer drive to go to area restaurants. These and other Waukesha area hotels can be found at: http://www.visitwaukesha.org/main.html Another option is the Brookfield area. Brookfield is more centrally located in the Milwaukee area. It is between Waukesha and Milwaukee. It would serve as a good location if you want to also visit the Milwaukee area. There are many hotels, restaurants & businesses in the Brookfield area. (I recommend the Brookfield area) http://www.brookfieldcvb.com/hotels/index.htm And speaking of frozen custard, the “flavor of the day†at two local frozen custard stands on June 26: Raspberry Avalanche @ Omega Frozen Custard - FranklinBlack Raspberry @ Le Duc's Frozen Custard Wales (Just west of Waukesha)
Laura
I just looked on the Culver's website for Waukesha-It's Raspberry Crisp!
Razzy
Yep, Racine Kringle is world famous. Racine is a city just south of Milwaukee. And yes, that kringle is awsome...and they do have many flavors, not just apple.
sterling
My sister lives in Racine, WI. It is definitely Racine Kringle that you are talking about. Last Thanksgiving we all went there and she leaves early the next morning and comes back with 3 of these Kringles...several different flavors. Just too good to believe! They sell alot of them in Door County..(a big tourist penisula).Phil
Tim From Wisconsin
Julia,That is great that you are coming all the way to Wisconsin for the show! I hope to meet you, along with the other board members attending the show. As we get closer to the end of the month we can all figure out a place to meet. I plan on going there on Thursday the 23rd (Head East) and Saturday the 25th (Roger Hodgson of Supertramp) besides Sunday, so I can check out the grounds and figure out a couple of meeting places. When are you coming to town - And for the rest of the travelers, when will you be arriving?Tim
Roadie #3
East Coast Frozen Custard is a very special ice cream and was originally sold at an amusment park called Euclid Beach on the East side of Cleveland. I remember as kid (boy thats a long time ago) going to the park and having 3 or 4 cones. In fact, I am pretty sure that the Choir and some of the other bands most likey played at the ballroom at the park while it was open. The area is now a golden age home bt I beleive they kept the entrance arch in place. Most of us older Clevelanders will remember the frozen custard as well as the laughing fat lady. My favorite ride was the flying turns. Anyhow for any of those of you looking for the location of East Coast Frozen Custard it is located on Mayfield Road at the cornor of Brainard in Lyndhurst. I think when I go up next week for rehearsals I will stop by and have one or two.
JuliaAllByMyself
Hi, Tim ~ We should arrive late Friday night. Flying makes me really poorly, so I probably won’t see much of Saturday. I’m really looking forward to meeting up with everyone. It’s gonna be a great day, I just know it !
Tim From Wisconsin
OK People...Lets start getting excited! Only 2 weeks until the start of a great Summer with the Raspberries!! I can't wait to help them start it off in the great outdoors in Waukesha Wisconsin! It's been in the mid-high 80's here lately, but that will still be cooler than it was at the House of Blues for the guys.Tim

Baby Sister
Thought I'd be able to make it but since I am working at Blossom Music Center this summer , they have Stevie Nicks on the 25th and Santana on the 26th. So far nothing scheduled for July 23 & 24th so maybe i'll see ya in NYC. Oh and will definetely be at Scene Pavillion on tyhe 15th!
wallytosa
Yeah, only two weeks from today!! I was paging through a local Madison weekly newspaper today, the Ithsmus, and there was a 1/4 page add for A Taste of Summer festival in Waukesha. It was great to see the Raspberries name in a Madison paper for a concert - it's so surreal. So it seems they're reaching out to at least more than the general Milwaukee area.
