Devil and George

Help me out with what I just read. George Harrison, whose last album was Cloud 9, 15 years go, has a new disk coming out Nov 19th called "Braiwashed". His son and long time collaborator Jeff Lynn produced his final recorded works. Jeff Lynn said that the 11 origials and 1 cover knocked him out.

The cover was stated as "Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea". Could it be...?

I went to ASCAP online and there is another published song by that name which appears to be an old standard having been sung by the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Bing Crosby, etc.

Did Eric slip Ringo some sheet music with a twenty in it a couple years ago on tour to get it to George? Or is George singing a very old standard that at least I have never heard of?

Jeff Lynn has a radio ear and track record, and I still think would be a cool producer for Eric for at least one cd.

PS: I seem to be on a Beatles kick here but it's strictly coincidental. Just read that article last night.

Reminds me of a story told by songwriters Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart.

The released a song called "Words" in 1968, to mediocre success. They heard a few years later that Elvis's latest album had the song "Words" on it. They rushed out, bought the album, and were treated to the sounds of:

"It's only words, and words are all I have, to take your heart away".

It was the Bee Gees song "Words", not their version.

I was watching "I Dream Of Jeannie" & Boyce & Hart did the song called "Out & About". The duo also appeared on "The Flying Nun" & did a remake of the Sam & Dave hit "I Thank You" (also recorded by ZZ Top in 1980). Dolenz, Jones, Boyce & Hart had a song called "I Remember The Feeling" back in 1976 which at the beginning of the song reminds me of "I'm A Believer". Their comeback song did not chart the Billboard Hot 100 or the Bubbling Under Charts. Tommy Boyce committed suicide the day after Thanksgiving back in 1994. Matt

If I'm not mistaken, it was none other than Neil Diamond that wrote "believer"!

That is so sad re: tommy boyce. he and bobby hart wrote some great top 40 songs (mostly for the monkees i believe). I remember "I wonder what she's doin' tonight."

"we were so close but we should've been closer,

and its makin' me feel so sad.

but i tell myself i did'nt lose her.

cause you can't lose a friend you never had!" :P

Back in the day, that was a score!

Not exactly eminem!

June, Saving Silverman is a very funny movie that features 3 young men who among other various hilarious situations are "Neil Diamond" fanatics.

The humor is on the crude side though, so if you are easily offended, pass, if not enjoy.

Hey, how about an Eric Carmen tribute band?

Of course the downside to having Tony in the group is that he would be like having two members in one, and if he thinks he's Eric and Wally, he'll be in the corner fighting with himself alot!

That and of course "our" website would be run by someone named SNAKE!

How about a ladies EC tribute band?
