Art
The Hyatt is one of the best places to stay for HOB. It is just across the street, and adjacent to the Cleveland Arcade, a multi-story building of shops constructed in the 1890s. The rate for New Years Eve is $89 (non-refundable) or $99 (refundable). I just booked my stay on the Hyatt website: www.hyatt.com. Even better, if you are a frequent or even infrequent Hyatt visitor, you get one free night for every 2 nights paid for by Master Card (at any Hyatt). Anyway....a heads-up for those of you looking for a nice convenient hotel. My wife and I stayed there for the reunion concert and it was fine. AnniekNY
Hi Art - did the Hyatt have a restaurant in it?(as in I can order room service breakfast the next day???!!!)The Holiday Inn Express is $79 a night and across the street as well.I'm nervous about making any reservation in case I don't get a ticket...Art, do you know something I don't about getting them?? Art
Annie: Yes, there is a restaurant. You can get room service. I don't know anything about concert tickets except to be logged on and at the website Saturday. Hope you can make it.
mannoman
Art/AnnieKI just checked the Hyatt. The $89 rate is for Dec 31st. I arrive on the 30th and that rate is $159 (owieee). The HIE has the best rate ($79 - $89), by far,and a very large roomIf I was going to pay $159 per night I'd look into the Renaissance Hotel.Ted
Art
Ted, thanks. I only checked 12/31 and 1/1.
BadfingerBarb
I still haven't decided if I'm going yet but if I do, I'll be looking for a roomie to share the cost.
AnniekNY
Art - by "website" do you mean this one or ticketmaster? Is it going to be like the meet and greet tickets where you check in on the post?Sorry to be a pest...I'm just nervous! Art
Annie: I was just referring to being at the Ticketmaster website on Saturday as soon as the sale starts.
JuliaD
Ted, unless there's a special rate again at the Renaissance, it's a lot more than $159.00, it's more like $225.00. They gave us the $119.00 rate because they knew we were going to the HOB, and Jim had arranged a special rate with them, but who knows if that's going to be the case for NYE.The hotel is fabulous tho, very clean friendly place, lots of atmosphere, nice sized rooms, and 3 restaurants, only one of which is pricey. I ate in the lounge Friday night, just a burger and fries, and it was only 10 bucks. Might sound like a lot, but we're not talking McDonald's food here, this was a really good charbroiled hamburger, and (nonalcoholic) drink refills were free. They also have a decent breakfast buffet in the morning.
Tiggsherby
Though, I'm not going...did anyone confirm whether or not the HOB was doing a pre-sale as they did for the first show?
Steveh
Annie, I stayed at the Hyatt Regency, and it was very nice - the mall effect was neat - steppingoutside your door and being in a mall. For sure you'd like that. Keep in mind there is a $21.00 per night parking fee! I paid a lot less than any of you guys - due to priceline.com.Steveh
AnniekNY
Thanks Steve - i know parking was $12 per night at HIE but since we had the GUESTS FROM HELL next door to us Saturday night, they were kind enough to waive the parking. The "Hoobastank gang" came in at 3 a.m. and PARTIED SO LOUD they actually woke up my kids. That's a tough one to do! This went on until 4:30 when the police finally came. I like the idea of the Hyatt - very intriguing and for $10 more (I don't have to worry about parking this time I don't think!) you're right - i would love the mall!!!! mannoman
Art/AnnieK - Ok, despite what I said earlier I booked the Hyatt. I went on TripAdvisor (Cleveland Hotels)and the Hyatt (Arcade) came in 3rd in customer satifaction. FYI - The Renaissance placed 11th and the HIE 19th.Now if I only had concert tickets. smittie
I was happy at the HIE. The staff was friendly and helpful, I felt safe there, enjoyed the cinnamon buns from the breakfast bar immensely and got a great rate for $79.00. It wasn't fancy, but the room was clean and very spacious with high ceilings and tall windows. I'd stay there again. Best of all it's practically across the street from the HOB.I guess we were lucky, it was quiet too. Just read about Annie's night from hell .Sorry you had such a rough night! mannoman
Smittie - we had a nice stay at the HIE, too but I wanted to try something different.Ted
JuliaD
"customer satisfaction" must have been largely based on price, because no way was my experience at the Renaissance second best to anything... the employees couldn't have been nicer or friendlier, the room was immaculate (as was the rest of the place), the decor was exceptional, the restaurants I was at were above standard for the money, and they were extremely efficient in all respects, I couldn't say a bad word about the place
darlene
What do you mean "Annie's night from hell?" Where did she stay? And what happened??? --Darlene
darlene
Also wondering if the Renaissance may offer a NYE package? If we decided not to eat at HOB, we would probably enjoy dinner at the Renaissance. What were the other two restaurants like, JuliaD? --Darlene
smittie
Hi Darlene, When I said "Annie's night from hell", I was refering to the people staying in the room next door to her. They came in at 3:00 am and were so loud they woke up her kids and the police arrived at 4:30 am to deal with the situation. She called them the "Guests from Hell" I believe. She talks about it in an earlier post.
beachberry
Park at the BP Building which is directly across the street from HOB. Entrance is on Superior( 1 block north). Its only $5.
JuliaD
Darlene, I really don't know, the only place open at the time we wanted to eat was the bar. I know from reading the literature in my room the Sans Souci (?) one was the highest priced. The other one only seems to be open till mid afternoon, no dinners, which was why I opted for the bar. The food was excellent tho.
AnniekNY
Darlene - on the Saturday night after the concert, the whole family was snuggled in our beds and at 3 a.m., a group came into the room next to us - I'm safely assuming they had been at the Hoobastank concert. They were loud, laughing and yelling. Peter called down to the front desk, who promptly called them. They got upset, saying that they" had the right to have a normal conversation." Well, duh....if I can hear every bloody word youre' saying, it's not NORMAL!!This went on and on - the manager came up, security came up. We kept calling (about 6 times) and finally the front desk called the police. When THEY arrived, we could hear the people in the room saying "shhhhhhh.....shhhhhh....pretend you're asleep." The police didn't leave and finally spoke to them. We thought they left - it got quiet that fast. But - it was 4:30 a.m. We got back to sleep about 6-6:30. If they were loud enough to wake up my kids - who sleep through everything, as does Peter - they were obnoxious. The next morning, we heard them again about 10:30.As we were checking out, we saw toilet paper streaming out the door into the hall and they were smoking in the room - on a non-smoking floor.I did complain to the manager at the front desk - who couldn't have been nicer our entire visit. They took off the parking charges - we had paid in advnace for the room so they couldn't help us out there. But it was still a very nice gesture and had I not gotten a cheaper rate at the Hyatt, I would have stayed there again.that's the saga!hey Darlene - what's the story, morning glory?? Are you making the trip with us or what?????????????
aggiesjc
Marvin and I walked through and saw those mall-front Hyatt rooms. Looks pretty cool, but the Holiday Inn Express is a great price and the rooms were large with high ceilings, great views, and clean for a great price.
