Lawyer fan
next summer. I think there is an overlap of fans for Eric/Raspberries and Brian/BBs' music. I do recall that Eric was a fan of Brian's music; the converse is probably true, too. Just a thought. Marc
chris hess
that would be an awesome combo!! what a night of great music that would be!!!lol, chris
Mr E
It would be an awesome combination no doubt... However I saw Brian Wilson earlier this year and he had no opening act. In fact I'm not aware of him having any opening acts in his recent touring at all.... Sadly. The guy's got a pretty big catalog of songs! ;-)I would be in heaven if this match up did happen, though! Jeff
I think BW needs to perform on his own. Considering his stability limitations, just the fact that he is putting on shows, is a massive event on its own. That said, since his last couple of tours mostly entailed him doing albums in entireties, the last being Smile, again it would dininish anyone else sharing the bill or opening for him.As well, when the Berries had an opening act in one of it's shows, I really think it was the general concensus that the levity of the Berries reunioning (i know it's not a word!), also did not merit sharing the bill so much. A single bill made it a much more intensive event.Yeah, sure, BW, Berries, Big Star, Badfinger skeleton band, would all be a nice show bundled together. But, I do like when artist we love, make comebacks in grander style -- on their own.Just my 2c ....
Lawyer fan
I kind of thought that The Raspberries opening; then Brian, then all together for some tunes...like the BBs did with Chicago in the tour in the 70s...
chris hess
good insite jeff..very true..i forgot to write that on brians last(i think) tour,my brother told me when the audience was filling in,one of the songs they played was "cruising music",how cool !!! what an honor for the berries for brian to select that song!!!lol, chris
Early Wynn
Here's my 2 cents worth. I would prefer to see the Raspberries tour with a newer, young, relevant opening band. I don't think of the Raspberries as an "oldies" act, and a new band would help attract a new audience to see the masters at work. Cheap Trick is currently touring with OK GO. I would imagine that a lot of OK GO's fans only know of Cheap Trick thru the episode of the Simpsons. Of course, OK Go is only known for that cool treadmill video. The song is mediocre, at best (IMO).
Mr E
OK then what young band would be appropriate for opening for the Raspberries? If it were the 90's I'd say Jellyfish or Wondermints (Though Brian Wilson wound up getting them!)Now? Hmmm Raconteurs? ummmmmmm I'm blanking... I'm sure they're out there but I can't think of any other power pop bands worthy of opening for them right now.... chris hess
hard to say..if they do tour that is..maybe they should do it on their own..if they do decide to tour,i say let them make the call..i'm sure they would'nt dissapoint on their decision!!! my 2c!!lol,chris
Raspbernie
I don't think Raspberries fans would mind seeing them on the same bill with Brian Wilson!Bernie
Lawyer fan
Brian Wilson....as I recall Bruce Johnston wrote "I Write the Songs" as inspired by Brian. The man is music, much like Carmen. I used to go to all the Beach Boys' shows and see Brian every tour now. I think a Raspberries / Wilson tour would do exceptionally well. Now, is someone can reach Eric, I can pass the message on to Brian. Enjoy. Marc
danmichel
That would be a dream to see Brian Wilson and Eric Carmen on the same stage...I think both would compliment each other well...And have a blast working together.
Lee Marshall
While the presentation [on paper] and 2 'bodies of work' go hand in hand...I am of the opinion that Eric [and the Raspberries] might have to FINISH the show.I just get the impression that the Raspberries would ROCK harder than Brian and his crew and you need the more energetic crew wrapping up not opening the night.I would like to see Eric do something with Brian in the studio. That might be magic. Don't get the impression that Brian's simply being on stage is an iffy thing or an unstable situation. The show is pure magic. All the best.
