marvin
Just got back from a wonderful week in MN visiting with family and friends. I also had the opportunity to hook up with Minnesota 'berries fans Don Manderfield and Bill C. Bill plays in a piano-guitar duo and last Tuesday evening Don and I went to check out the show. With three Eric/'berries fans in the audience, Bill just HAD to do an appropriate song, and that was "That's Rock and Roll." I can say without any hesitation that this was THE first time in my life that I've ever heard an Eric song being done by a bar band. I've always considered myself to be pretty adept at playing/singing most top 40 songs from the 1960's-1970's, but Bill C had me beat by a country mile. The man is a human jukebox! Thanks Bill and Don for a great time, AND thanks Bill for letting me join you on some songs.Marv
Bill C
You are so kind Marvin. It was a pleasure to meet you and Don. My wife thought you guys were just wonderful and has never asked so many questions about the Eric Carmen website and how I knew you two guys. Thanks for a great night.Bill C. raspberrywine
Marv, does the AD HOC band know youve gone off on a solo tour to Minnesota?

Tony Cartmill
Side projects? I see the beginning of the end coming...In a few weeks, which of Marvin's bandmates is going to drag him by the hair around the parking lot?

James
Marvin,...don't take it anymore! I think you should call the ACLU,..or maybe Rainbow Push,.....I think they're all picking on you just cause your Canadian.

marvin
It's one thing to have a well-rehearsed act that sticks to strict set list, but when you have an act like Bill has - i.e. one that takes requests from the audience, you better be ready to play ANYTHING - and Bill and his buddy Tom did it perfectly.Marv
raspberrywine
Shoot, this must mean the AD HOC BAND box set/dvd will be delayed. Hopefully Marv can put the parking lot fight behind him and move on. I think Nirvana once recorded in Minnesota , small coincidence?, I think not. Donmand
Great to meet up with Marvin for a FUN Night of Music with the Bill and Tom Show in Minneapolis a few weeks ago. This duo plays an incredible catalog of 70's songs. Very many by 1 Hit wonders. An hour into the Show...they launched into "That's Rock 'n Roll" we were singing and grinning through the entire tune. The crowd loved it as well. An excellent version and the first time I've heard that song perfomed LIVE as a cover. Congrats to EC board member Bill for a fine night of entertainment. Eric would have been proud to hear "That's Rock 'n Roll"! Marvin: you sounded Great on the tunes you played on also.DonMarvin wrote:Just got back from a wonderful week in MN visiting with family and friends. popdude
Marvin: you sounded Great on the tunes you played on also. I was able to get a hold of a very rare set list from this gig (on eBay, of course). Looks like the tunes Marv performed were:"March of the Sugar Plum Fairies""Canadian Booty Call""Pac-Man Fever""Shoo Fly, Don't Bother Me""The Streak" ("Don't look, Ethel!" - you remember this one, right?)"The Macarena""They're Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-Ha!""Theme from Bonanza"
raspberrywine
I always like the AD HOC version of "Canadian booty call." Not quite as happening as "Back Bacon Shuffle," but Marvs vocal sorta somewhere between Leslie Gore and Leslie Nielsen on that one. If I am not mistaken, "Canadian Booty Call" was the B side of the "Theme from Dudley Do-right " single.

Bill C
Thanks for the pictures Marvin. The "Groupie" you see is there every Tuesday night. Thanks Don for the great review of "That's Rock & Roll", even though I fumbled the words on the last verse. We don't get a lot of requests for it, however, last Wednesday at a club we got a request out of the blue for "Go All The Way". I was so excited that we had a Raspberries request that I had to do an acoustic version of it. It was....OK. Not a very acoustic, 2 man band friendly song. sllvnbil
Hey Marvin!!! I'm coming to Calgary!!!! A casino date has just been added to Gary Lewis's tour schedule for April 22 in Calgary. I'm not sure of the name of the casino but I'll find out and let you know. Are you coming to Cleveland to see the Choir? I wish I could go to that show but I'll be out on tour with Gary Lewis that week. I e-mailed Jim to see if I could show up at a rehearsal. I'll keep in touch!!! mannoman
Billy, I see (too late) that you played in Plant City, Florida. I work in Plant City (pretty red neck, eh?). How was the show? Sorry I missed you. I've got to check your site more often for tour info.
