Eric and family.........

Recommended Posts

I recall seeing Eric on some show a while back -

a la Dateline or 20/20. He looked immensely happy with family life, the kids, etc.. I read that he

also took a fancy to the stock market and did quite well therein a few years ago. Now, if he can only kick that cigarette smoking habit....

Still, one of my favorite all time artists.

Well, I have never met Eric, I would like to shake his hand and have a picture taken with him.

I noticed when listening to his music, his ciggarette smoking, the raspy voice on some songs

you can tell he is a smoker.

I feel Eric should quit too.

Because he could lose his voice and end up with throat cancer.

I quit smoking 6 years ago.

I was around too many friends they died because of cancer due to ciggarettes.

Other wise, his music is great.

Joanne,

"Spoiled rotten brat including the family"? Unless you are commenting from personal experience, it's kind of a good example of why Eric doesn't post. How does he respond to that from someone who he's never met (I'm assuming here, correct me if I'm wrong) and the part about the family, ouch.

I don't blame him to sit back, observe all the posts, resist the temptation, and keep perspective.

JoAnne Marie, Have you just become a schizophrenic or something???!!!You seem to be a complete split personality from your other posts.

My bank is in Seven Hill, OH--if it's close to you, I should pull all my money out.

Or...are you EC-in-disguise trying to rile us all up???? Eric has a very playful sense of humor, but I don't think he'd waste his time making comments like that.

If I were a celebrity, I wouldn't post on a message board either. Unjust comments are awful for anyone, even though they may come from a very tired, stressed mind. Celebrities have problems like everyone else--most have more than everyone else, because everyone else wants to be with them, BE them, smother them, God knows what! Also, having achieved any kind of fame comes with the pressure of holding on to it, wanting to lose it, wondering whether you can/want to/should produce something even bigger, people wanting everything/anything from you, including money! What to do with the money you have/how to keep it/or what to do if you've lost it...And being open to brickbats from anyone, sick or well-meaning, not to mention stalkers. I think I've just cheered myself up--my problems with my boss are small compared to that! It's easy to think celebrities are sitting back and smiling, but even though they may not have some of the problems we have, they have different ones. I'll keep mine for now...

Although i agree with most of your post, Darlene. I don't agree that "everyone wants to be them, be with them, wants to take their money, etc." I don't think the human race is that bad. Sure there are plenty of weirdos and dishonest people, but, well, I for one don't want to be with Eric, be him ( my husband probably wouldn't like that much, either smile ), or take his money. What i would like...is to hear more of his music or see him perform again. I'm pretty sure there are famous people that have a degree of paranoia, but i just don't see that in Eric, and i think we all develop an intuition about those things. We've all been burned for one reason or another by someone we thought we could trust, but you shouldn't really blame "everyone". That would be a pretty lonely life.

Marlene, I apologize if the word "everyone" is taken literally. What I meant that, there are so many people who want to meet them, etc., that I'm sure it must SEEM like "everyone" to them sometimes. I agree with you--and I have every faith in the goodness of the human race. Fame is difficult for sure, and many people think that if one is famous, life is much easier. I think it probably is much more difficult. I don't have a celebrity-seeking nature either. I enjoy people for their own unique qualities. I was just loving talking to two of my giggling little girls in school after one of my fourth grade violin classes. They were just being so silly and cute, that I had a profound sense of enjoyment, and a quick pang of how I'll miss my graduating fifth graders next year. I'd be a terrible parent--I'd try to hang onto my kids till they were 87, if I'd had any.

You'd be a normal parent, just like the rest of us! I hate seeing my little guy outgrow his clothes, because it's tangible evidence he's getting bigger (which we don't see, because we're with them every day). I'm assuming he'll be such a pain-in-the-ass as a teenager that by the time he turns 18 I'll be ready and willing to kick him out. At least, that's what I'm hoping for, or I'll be a basket case in 16 years!

Even I'm upset that my College students are graduating this month. I've been teaching them for a year now, and I'm really going to miss them! I think any time you're a teacher, no matter what age, it's the same - you hate to see them go.
