Kirk-- There's really no way of knowing. The counter registers a hit every time you log onto the website in a new session...meaning you have to quit your browser and come back to the web site. If you leave your connection on and check a few times a day...that'll count as one hit.

Here's some interesting statistics for you: for the past week EricCarmen.com has been getting an average of 1,098 hits per day!

We've had visitors this past week from the following countries (by number of hits in descending order): United States, Japan, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, Brazil, Netherlands, Mexico, Italy, Germany, Sweden, Belgium, Argentina, France, Spain, Denmark, Austria, Switzerland, Finland, Costa Rica, Malaysia, Philippines, New Zealand, Poland, South Africa, Russian Federation, Czech Republic, Turkey, Indonesia, Greece, Thailand, Chile, Estonia, Colombia, Israel, Bulgaria, Portugal, Cuba, India, Singapore, Peru, Croatia, Ecuador and the Dominican Republic!

When you consider how far and wide Eric's fan base reaches it truly boggles the mind, eh?

I mean, the Czech Republic, Estonia and Croatia!?! Amazing! --Bernie

Bernie,

Congratulations on 350,000!!! Every time I visit this site I'm totally impressed by your dedication and continued quality of your work. Its amazing that your efforts and enthusiasm have not wavered in the least. I have never seen a site so complete and organized.

I'd still like to see you get that guitar.Any body out there want to contact me on how we can get this for Bernie? I figure we have an army of 200 plus registered users plus I'm sure that there are more Eric fans who visit that this could become a reality. Its worth at least an honest attempt???

Shhhhhhhhhhh! Marvin! We are trying to get Eric to put out more material. He doesn't need to know that most of those 1,100 hits are just 9-10 of us nuts with internet access at our jobs, using the message board like a chat line...Ooooops! Good thing Eric doesn't have time to read the board. <img border="0" alt="[blech!]" title="" src="graemlins/blech.gif" />

Tony, You're REALLY being bad! You must need a Cleveland Cutie to mother you! I would bet there are a gazillion people out there who buy Eric's music and read the board but never post. You know how it is. Every organization has a lot of members who are "hangers on" but they don't do the nitty gritty work, which usually ends up being done by just a handful of people. Don't sell the board short. It's impossible for just the few of us to do 350,000 logins! Forget Cleveland, I'm going to take you to St. Louis and string you up from the Gateway Arch! eek --Darlene

Marvin,

I'm not certain but if eric had 350,000 fans we would each have to buy two copies for gold (500,000) and 3 each for platinum (1 million).

I do however believe that Eric has enough of a fan base at this point to release an "internet" only cd.

Bernie, do we have any idea as to how many copies "IWBTLY" sold here in the states...that would probably be a better gauge.

It's not the idea of just "getting a record company to sign him," it's the question of WHICH record company. I have no doubt Eric could get some record companies to sign him right now, but he's had a lot of experience in the record business and knows the problems involved. Did anyone stop to think that perhaps ERIC doesn't want to sign with a record company. The Raspberries signed with Capitol, but they wound up making more money when they were local Cleveland musicians, doing it all themselves.

I have no doubt that Eric is in constant contact with music business people, but as to concert tours, venues, releasing material, and especially signing with ANY label, he will be very cautious, very careful, because even if the record exec is your BEST FRIEND, things can turn sour quicker than a batch of heated raspberries...(no pun intended!)

As for his fan base, all of us have jobs, so there aren't just a few of us sitting here posting. On every website, there are a million readers who read for amusement and don't ever post. Half of the world DOES, and half of the world OBSERVES. Count all those observers--they're fans too! smile --Darlene

Darlene...you are such a wonderful fan of Erics. (as we all are)! But you have to realize that the record industry is a "what have you done for me lately" industry. On that count Ec is guilty of not enough. frown I'm sure he has his connections, but i'm willing to bet that they are getting fewer as time goes by. As for the perfect label for our favorite performer...how about "Rhino"?, they seem to have cornered the market in 70's and 80's acts trying to re-connect with their fans.
