JohnO
I'm a newbie here, and this may have already been discussed (actually, I'd be shocked if it hasn't been!)...While I've been a huge Raspberries fan since their first LP (my vinyl copy lost its scratch & sniff scent many moons ago), most of Eric's solo material has been hit or miss with me. I usually like about half of the songs on each of his solo outings, but I'm not crazy about the other half.I saw some earlier postings on this board and/or the Raspberries board, where someone suggested that the band add a couple of Eric's hit songs to the live set - a controversial subject, it seems. I'm just wondering if the band has considered doing so, but Raspberry-ing up the arrangements....tossing in their harmonies and the occasional 12-string solo, etc. Some of Eric's tunes (Sunrise, She Did It, maybe Make Me Lose Control) might be naturals for this, while others obviously would not be. Just a thought.....(and Eric himself might not be crazy about the idea) - John O.
Tony Cartmill
Gee, I never thought about that
Billy K.
It would be nice to include(as I have mentioned before), the song "Miles Away"--from Wally's Fotomaker days......that song rocks and hasRaspberry written all over it....sound very much like something that should have been on "Side 3"!! stringer
I would absolutely love to hear some of Eric's songs added to the list. I love the Raspberries, but Eric is by far my favorite. I have and listen to all his albums all the time (I also have Wally's solo albums). Getting back together with his bandmates is the coolest thing ever, but I think most people would love to hear him play "all by myself". It's just another great song that one of the guys in the band wrote. But in the end I'll listen to whatever they decide to play and love it. I'm hoping for the ultimate: A NEW RASPBERRIES ALBUM
JuliaD
It's no secret that Eric is the reason I liked Raspberries to begin with, and I was thrilled with his solo recordings... but to be honest, I can see where Eric doing his solo music might cause some problems. This reunion is about *four* guys, not one... and as much as I love Eric, I think his solo career should be kept out of it.By the way, I have to admit that while Eric *is* the reason I liked Raspberries all those years ago, being older and wiser now, I am totally blown away by the band as a whole these days. They're fantastic, and each one plays an important role within the band. Some of my least favorite songs have become favorites after hearing and seeing them performed live. I've got a lot of respect for all of them.
Billy K.
Good points from all of you.....I would like to see some of the solo stuff...but only if everyone gets to do a song, in all fairness......this is a group effort......and besides the Eric and Wally songs, perhaps Dave and Jim may have something they want to do, outside of the four albums....I'd like to see NEW material, though, as well...
