Al
Hi Peter, Last I heard, John Doukas is living in England (doing something in the record biz)and Steve Wright is residing at an assisted living facility in Oakland. Unfortunately, I haven't heard of any major progress concerning his health. Just for the fun of it, I've been playing in a band with Earthquake's former drummer Steve Nelson. He's a really great guy and can still play Keith Moon style like it's nobody's business. Glad to talk about these musicians that made some fun albums in the late seventies. If you're interested, there's a pretty good double CD comp featuring all the Bezerkley bands floating around on Amazon. All the best to you Peter. Greg_Kihn
Thanks for the response Al. It really means a lot to me that you gave a second response.I was 10 years too young to be around when these bands were active, and grew up in a milieu where this type of music is not known or appreciated.A part of me hopes to visit your area of the States someday and personally shake your or other aforementioneds hands, or be able to hear a concert. It's a minor obsession running many years now. But self-contained (!) I would love to hear Stan Nelson: I would like to hear his band album from 1984 "The Hyts" and also the last Earthquake album. I thought Robbie Dunbar was a very competent musician.Anyhow I should probably slowly end the subject..

popdude
Yet one more thing..is there a commercially available recording of Al Chan covering "Tonight" with the Rubinoos? It will be available this summer, as part of the CD that will be included with the book SHAKE SOME ACTION: A HISTORY OF POWER POP. Other acts on the disc include Scott McCarl, Kyle Vincent and Seth Swirsky, all with tracks previously unavailable on CD.

Tony Cartmill
Peter, Now you have to stay with the Greg_Kihn board name. You are too established now and you are bringing out celebrities like Al Chan.I sent Al a naked picture of myself, and got zip, nadda, nothing in response. Al's kind of like my wife in that way... Greg_Kihn
How cool is this..people coming out of the woodwork to name some more obscure Greg Kihn songs! Beside myself does have such a great punchy sound. What about the spine-tingling "Anna Belle Lee" "If you be my love" or "Hurt so bad". The great guitar solo in "Politics" or the carefree folky sound of his debut album ex. "Any other woman".I would be curious whether anyone has heard any other song of theirs/his on the radio (within the last 10 years?) besides the 2 official hits. He did have a slew of singles that bubbled under the charts: "Happy man" "Testify" "Every love song" " Love and rock and roll " "Lucky" "The girl most likely" "Someday" "Love never fails" "Sorry" "Remember" "Moulin rouge" "Can't stop hurting myself" "Reunited" "Valerie".There is a great ballad on Citizen Kihn called "Whenever". It's definitely a good one!
