Happy Birthday Eric!

Recommended Posts

As always, sending you all the best. The Chicago evening was the highlight of the year so far for me, and I hope your birthday is as nice a day for you as that evening was for me. 33 years and counting...unbelievable! Hope to see you again soon.

Cumpleanos feliz, Erico.

Eric,

The Beatles once sang, "All You Need Is Love," and it must be true, because all the love you've poured into your music over the years is coming back around to you in success! Have a very Happy Birthday! Enjoy it with a big smile and "hold on", because you haven't seen anything yet!

Love,

Darlene and Herman Brandt

Eric-Every year on your birthday message board I have asked to see you live (because my birthday is August 21st) This year I have received that 3 times over, and was able to meet you and get my picture taken with you. I was so pleased to have the honor of seeing you, Dave, Jim, and Wally in concert and meeting all of you. I hope that your birthday lives up to the year that I have had. I hope to see you and the other berries in concert again. Have a very happy birthday and hope to see you soon! smile You have my best wishes for your birthday!

Eric,

Here's to the happiest of birthdays to you! What a year its been. I finally got a chance to meet you, and been able to see two shows. You deserve a really relaxing, joyous birthday for all the hard work you have put into making Raspberries the number one band in the world again!!! Keep up the fantastic work and by next year's birthday, we'll have even more to celebrate.

ahhhh, Eric... who knew your prayers would be answered and you'd actually meet me, huh? wink

Seriously, when I saw you in the DD tour, I thought I was so blessed and lucky to have been in the same room as someone I admired so much. Never in a million years did I think I'd ever actually meet you, it was such a thrill!

Meeting you in November, and chatting with you a few times in the chatroom since then has made me see the "human" side of you, vs the idolic side, and it's all been good. smile

One of these days I'll manage to get a cake to you guys as a small token of appreciation for all you have given me and so many others like me (is there anyone else quite like me?) smilie

Have a fabulous birthday, Eric!

Eric, Happy Birthday from the bottom of my heart! Best wishes for a special day, spent with family and friends, on August 11. And thanks so much for all the enjoyment you've provided me over many years. Sure wish I could make it to Atlantic City to see you knock 'em dead yet again!

Love to you,

Jennifer

Eric,

The joy and inspiration you and the Berries have given me since 1971 is extremely hard for me to put into words, but it's very easy to wish to you the happiest of birthdays. Here's to many more!

Eric, I have to admit, that having just moved back to Cleveland last summer, I was sitting around at work August 11 and it hit me that it was your birthday. I remember thinking "Wow, Eric is 55 years old today...doesn't seem possible...wonder what he is doing? Oh well, guess I'll never know." At that point, I was thinking all the good times were pretty much in the past...yeah, sure, you might put out a new CD one of these days, but when? And...well...I was just sitting there, feeling kind of old myself, realizing how much time had gone by.

What can I say now, except...what a difference a year makes!! What a difference THREE MONTHS makes! You can believe me when I say that the thought that since that day last year, I have been to SIX Raspberries concerts, and you have played EIGHT, completely blows my mind. Where did all this come from? DId you guys really decide to get back together (as I like to tell everyone) JUST because I moved back home? Too much!!

All I can say now is, you sure proved me wrong. When I see you now, it's sure not some "old guy" I see. Nor is that the case for the rest of your bandmates. When you guys are up there singing and playing, "you look too good to be one minute over 17," as Chuck Berry would say (well, OK--27?). And what's more, you've given me my youth back. When I am at one of your concerts, it's like I'm enjoying the best of both worlds--the autonomy of an adult, combined with the excitement of the preteenager I was when I first heard and loved your music.

Never could I have imagined I'd be able to experience THAT--not in December of 1973, and not on August 11, 2004.

Thank you so much for giving me that, Eric. And for giving that same amazing feeling of recapturing the magic of the past for the future to so many other people--including my sisters and my cousin. We will never forget it. Enjoy your birthday--because no bunch of 56-year-olds has ever rocked harder than you guys.

Here's to the future!

Eric, I wish you a very happy birthday with your family and friends. Also I wanna thank you that you made my dream come true, last January I had that wonderful experience to see, to hear and to feel a liveshow by my alltime favourite popgroup. And thanks to Bernie I had the chance to meet you and talk with you for a while. And Eric, what Mr. Tambourineman by the Byrds did to you wayback in 1965, the same did your song Don't wanna say goodbye to me in 1972. A love for music started and never went back till now and if I ever have a chance to do it all over again, I will take that chance and fly again to the US to see another Raspberries show, promise.

Eric,

I raise my glass to you and yours for a very, very Happy Birthday! It is such a thrill to see you out and working it again. I never thought I would ever get the chance to see you OR the Raspberries and now I've been able to three times! Keeping my fingers crossed for many more shows.

Thank you for all of your wonderful music and for making your fellow Cleveland musicians still sweating it out in the dives very proud to see that somebody from Cleveland is doing it (again...)!

Cheers To You Always,

John Shaft & His Purple Hat
