Kirk
Why is it the song you least like keeps going around in your head. Sometimes I hear the "Shufflette" part and sometimes I'm haunted by the syncopated Eric part at the end. Somebody please make it go away. I guess I should have kept my opinion to myself...lost, lost in the shuffle (and I really can't take it no more) Kirk.
darlene
Kirk, I hate to tell you this, but although you may think you "like it least," SOME primeval part of you latched on to that part and won't let it go, baby! Proving once again, Eric can't write anything that doesn't appeal strongly on SOME level to everyone! There must be people who HATE Papa Oo Mow Mow, but I defy them to get it out of their head once they hear it! Some things are just so catchy that they hook you forever. Writing something like that is a real talent. I was playing 2nd violin on Wagner's Der Fliegende Hollander (The Flying Dutchman) in Symphony, and my girlfriend and I HATED the nasty chromatic part we had, because it was so difficult to get it even at the conductor's fast tempo, (we started calling it Der Fu-----inde Hollander!), but sometimes that part just pops into my brain and I can't get rid of it! Good Luck...Try just relaxing!
Julie
Thanks a lot, Kirk. Now I have that song stuck in my head --Julie
darlene
So, Kirk, Did you get "the shuffle" out of your head yet?! --Darlene
Kirk
Yes Darlene, I managed to give it the shake. WARNING! DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER IF YOU DON'T WANT OTHER TUNES STUCK IN YOUR HEAD!I have a couple of fail-safe songs that can get rid of anything. One is the theme song from "It's a Small World" (from Disneyland); another is the "Do-Re-Me" song from "Sound of Music". Shall I go on? Sorry if I got anybody going on these. You WERE warned;) Kirk. darlene
Kirk, We must be on the same wavelength or something! I have been working on a whole polka album of 12 original songs for a polka band, and so of course I have all these 4-bar phrases in my head, and today I was shopping and "Small World" popped into my brain and I couldn't stop it from going around and around. It was maddening! Yep, that one is a real pain. Especially since I used to teach Kindergarten vocal music, and I always sang that with my classes. Just what a composer needs -- a children's song going round and round!Next time something gets stuck, put on Country Music Television. Stare at Martina McBride and Lee Ann Womack -- they're so pretty it will unstick anything. If that doesn't work, consider acupuncture! --Darlene
Julie
Yes, I was warned. But, I am weak. Now, I have "It's A Small World" going around and around in my head complete with oompahs and accordions...plus a maddening desire to dust off my dad's Frank Yankovichs' tapes...AaaaauuuuuuggggghhhhHHHHHHHHH...papa...um...papa...bumbumbum...BABUM...Quick -- (or should that read, "The Quick"?) someone stop the madness... --Julie
