There is something special about "Nobody Knows" starting the second side of "Fresh". The physical location of a song on a record somehow meant something. I had to go out and get a new needle about 8 years ago and it cost me like $75 - I am afraid to see if I wear this one out what it will set me back lol. Therefore all destroyed albums are a no-no on my turntable. I think the kids are missing out on real records - I still can't say a CD store or an MP3 store - it's a freaking RECORD store to me lol. The last one was a record in phenomenally great condition of Oscar Levant playing the Anton Rubenstein piano concerto. What a marvelous sound and I just loved hearing the record! Also finally got one of him doing the Grieg and Tchaikovsky concertos. I still play my old Raspberries and EC albums. JohnO Posted July 29, 2007 Share Posted July 29, 2007 I have a recent turntable (a Sony, and not that expensive, either) with a built-in pre-amp that allows me to burn CDs via a stand-alone CD burner, directly off it....which I do as soon as I get any new records.As primitive as this may sound, some companies still put out some releases in vinyl-only format (Norton Records, for one, who still puts out tons of very cool 45s). I think I have around ten Rasberries LPs, counting my duplicates.Like Marv, I have too much good stuff to let sit and gather dust.I can actually appreciate a little crackle and pop hear and there. Poor4Life Posted July 29, 2007 Share Posted July 29, 2007 I still have one, a Pioneer PL-990.I don't use it much anymore, just to burn a song or two to CD in case I only have it on vinyl. I haven't bought anything in years to play on it, except recently I found a copy of Eddie Money's "Two Tickets to Paradise" which is a unique 45 single mix, and has never been released on CD. sterling Posted July 31, 2007 Share Posted July 31, 2007 I plan on getting a slightly used turntable, amp, preamp and speakers in the near future. Mobile Fidelity made some great vinyl. Of course I do believe it has richer sound than CD. I played a couple of the Berries vinyl on a friends system and it was just awesome. Hoping to be able to afford getting one, one day! I still have my turntable and of course, all my 'Berries LP's (along with Beatles, and many other groups!!)!
