Eric's voice among the best in pop............

The "old" Elton had wonderful pipes, so did Brian Wilson. Dylan, Elvis and Lennon had voices both distinctive and unique. Billy Joel had one that was amazing versatile and could probably immitate

anyone. I guess Paul McC is often regarded as the

pop singer many others would like to sound like. But I think on many cuts, Eric displays a voice

that can hold its own with almost anyone in the world of pop from years ago.

Eric's voice is the most expressive of any of those you mentioned. His voice has the most beautifully resonant timbre I've ever heard, and he can express the most gorgeous tonal colors. His timbre is chameleon-like (is that a word?!) And he instinctively suits the color to the expression. I've never heard anyone else do that. A violinist, I *live* by the ability to hear and create different tonal colors. Eric's voice blows me away.

Eric can scream out the rockers, yet sing ballads softly and sweetly - something not a lot of people have the talent to do. He certainly is 'one of a kind'! The weird part is that he says he hates to listen to his music. I guess when you're a perfectionist like him, you hear all ths mistakes instead of just enjoying the music as it is. I guess I'd probably be the same in his position. I'm too much of a perfectionist too.

After thirty years the sound of the 4 Raspberries albums did have an enormous upgrade to me, if you know what I mean, after I saw the band playing live for the first time last weekend. If I now listen to a Raspberries song on CD I hear things which I never heard before, can anyone else agree with me and understands what I try to say, or is it that am I still dreaming...

.....I gotta try a little harder.....

I'll tell ya...I've been lucky enought to know the guys at various levels and to have seen them in various incarnations since the 70's when one, two, or three of them have played together and done berries, Choir and Beatles songs...and I still got chills when I heard the harmonies on "No Reply" and "DWSG', and the chord change on "It's Cold Outside"...they truly are SO much better live now than they ever have been...

mrch,

Nov. was my 1st Raspberries concert...and I was expecting them to be really good !! But never in my wildest dreams did I think they would sound THIS AMAZING ! I think you're really lucky, as are many of the fans here to have seen them play live in the early days of Raspberries. Thanks for sharing your memories and insight. I've been to all three reunion shows just trying to make up for lost time...I think it was Jennifer (aggiesjc) who said it so well in another thread...I can't imagine wanting to be anywhere else when Raspberries are playing !!
