And like Greg said, I'd be happy if he just released a new CD. He could do most everything these days, production wise, without leaving the Carmen estate. Invite his musician friends over to do some live tracks, get the kids to sing background vocals, and get Susan to pose for another "Tonight You're Mine" style cover photo...?

Marvin and I usually agree. Don't hold your breath on a cd or tour, unless Paul or Ringo calls. Don't want to sound negative, but other that us on the message board, who cares about him anymore. What have you done lately? No new cd-No tour. I'm not knocking the guy. He has a right to do nothing in the music business anymore. It wouldn't make fiscal sense anyway.I'd like to see the numbers on Winter Dreams sold. It probably sold more in Japan that here and I'd be surprised if it got up to 50,000. That's not even break even.

Well, the real story is Eric had been stockpiling song ideas on his deluxe portable tape recorder while taking care of the kids...Kind of like John Lennon did back in the late 70's. Then one day he left the recorder on the couch and baby Kathryn got a hold of it, hit the rewind, then record...

And now, all that's left of Eric's priceless song ideas tape is, "Goo goo, Gaa gaa, Momma, Dadda, Baby K's got poopy pants..." frown

So it will just be the book coming out this year...

Truthfully, if he's a dad anything like I'm a mom, he's not going on tour for a VERY long time.

There's absolutely NO WAY I would spend a night without my child, and the road is not really the place for a few toddlers. When Eric announced his tour a few years ago, I was surprised, as I didn't think he could stand to be away from the kids. Then the tour was called off a few weeks later. No "real" excuse was ever really given, and I've always believed he backed out when he realized that he'd have to be away from the kids for so long, and couldn't stand the thought. The money he's make wasn't worth the sacrifice.

That's how us parent's think (well, us clingy ones anyway, I have tons of normal friends who have no problem going away for stretches without their kids)

So, I'm guessing when the kids head off to College - in about 14 years - we might see a new tour. What age will that make Eric? Born August 11, 1949, he'll be 69 years old in 2018. Sponsored by Polident, Depends, Viagra, and Geritol, it'll be billed as the "Don't Break a Hip, just break a leg" tour.

There are many artists who take their families, along with an entourage, when they go on tour. It's not an impossibility for Eric do do it, but I would totally understand if this was his reasoning for not going on tour. I've got a young family as well.

plus, the reason for touring is not only to support new material, but to create a "buzz" about the performer and build an audience....

would that really make a difference to ec's sales at this point? probably not!

lostcontrol...funny post, i think i'll pass on the "viagra" tour. maybe his children will be creating great pop music by then?

I think when he's written something he wants to put out there and he's ready to put it out there, there will be a CD and a tour. I haven't been so happy in a theatre since the Dirty Dancing Tour as I was when I attended his tour with Ringo. He still had it all--right there. Bernie was there that night, but I hadn't met him until after that performance. We were hoping Eric would come out and talk, but he didn't, and Herman and I saw two guys going in. When they came out, I saw they were wearing their "backstage pass" labels, and I said to one of them "Wow, where'd you get THAT?!"

He answered "Eric." I asked "He sent it to you."

He said "yes." I asked "What's your name?" He said Bernie Hogya and I exclaimed "RaspBERNIE!" and immediately fell on him with a hug. Poor Bernie looked kind of embarrassed and pointed to the other guy with the pass and said "This is KEN SHARP, who wrote the book." Of course then a lively discussion ensued during which I met their wives and apologized to both for hugging their husbands! Anyway, I was shocked to find out that Bernie lived very close to me. I thought he was from Cleveland! Anyway, we all agreed that Eric still has it all. And he does. I know he will put it all out there someday in the not too distant future.

Darlene quite simply, there is no way Eric will tour because there is no demand for him to tour. Why can you not see this? If (and it's a huge almost impossible 'if') he ever releases new music and it is commercially successful, then you might see him on the road. It would be foolhardy to think otherwise, and Eric being the shrewd businessman that he is, knows this and would not go out on the road blindly. Until then, we'll have this website to help us dream on.

Sure, spike Darlene's lemonade with some arsenic! I think we're all realistic enough to realize that there may never be another Eric Carmen tour - but it's nice to speculate... There's a bigger fan base than just the people you see here, although he's certainly not going to pull in the same crowd as Paul McCartney or Elton.

My feeling is that a decent album is probably needed. Look at the sucess of "Hungry Eyes" and "Make me Lose Control" in the '80s. If that kind of airplay was achieved again, it's very possible he could tour as a headliner. Unless that happens, however, we're more likely going to see him touring as part of a group of singers, if he bothers to tour at all.

I still think the guys from VH1 should get all 6 Raspberries together for that show they do. Of course, they're into all the bands who did videos, but when they're done with those, they should definitely do Raspberries. They somehow always get everybody to say yes. Even the guy who couldn't play anymore because his ears were totally ruined.
