austinberries
this was a frustrating interview to listen in on b/c the DJ did most of the talking (ie: rambling) - he just went on & on, often in circles, seemed to take up half the air time w/ this
Bruce Balzer
Michael Stanley , the DJ, is a bid suppoerter of the band. He has been at all 3 shows in Cleveland and has much more "local: sucess than the Berries ever had, Having said that, Mr. Stanley understands what the Berrie s were. When GATW made it big, Mr. Stanley took out a full page ad out in THe Scene in support of the band. This was when every other band in Cleve was jealous of the Berries. Michael had a local hit "Let's get the Show on the Road: with Epic REcords, Michael is a class act. If he rambled it was onl becauses he was proud of the guys
Leff'tHome
Probably a lot like "old home week" but their paths didn't cross too much 'cause they were all trying to make a living!

Betsey
I think Michael Stanley exhibited a genuine interest in Jim and Eric and their recent endeavors. He seemed very excited for them regarding the release of the cd/dvd. I agree that he is a class act......had a great band of his own and never seemed to put down our boys back in their heyday. Kudos to Michael Stanley!
marvin
And of course both the 'berries and Stanley have the Jennifer Lee connection.

Eric Carmen
Michael is a very talented singer/songwriter and a charming guy. It was a really nice interview and Jim and I had a great time. I think I remember Michael saying in an interview "The Raspberries had the hits, The James Gang sold the albums and I sold the tickets." He sold out three consecutive nights at Blossom Music Center back in the 70's. That's about 30,000 seats.Thats' quite an achievement. Many thanks to Michael and to WNCX.ec
marvin
It's interesting how many fans of Springsteen are also fans of Michael Stanley. There's a real similarity in their respective sounds as well as the ability of Michael's band to hold an audience in its hand - just like the E Street Band. Probably another reason why Sprngsteen is so popular in Cleveland.Marv
Angloberry
Enjoyed the interview - at 8.30pm GMT! Thought Eric fielded the question about new Berries material very well - "we'll have to see how this (CD) does first". Have to admit, I've no idea who Michael Stanley or his band are but I'll go check them out. The joy of the internet!Gary
Don_Krider
Have to admit, I've no idea who Michael Stanley or his band are but I'll go check them out. The joy of the internet!Gary I wrote a review of the Michael Stanley Band's (MSB) greatest hits CD, "Right Back At Ya," back in 2000 at http://www.epinions.com/musc-review-52E6-1054DCA6-38F4AC7F-prod5 that might give you an idea on the band's music and hits.Their "He Can't Love You" went Top 40 in 1980-81 (with Kevin Raleigh on lead vocals, who had been in the Cleveland bands Dynamite and Windfall with Dave Smalley and Jim Bonfanti); see that video at http://youtube.com/watch?v=G50CZ5lw2CQ ) and "My Town" (with Michael Stanley on lead vocals, it was a huge video hit on MTV (see it on TouTube at http://youtube.com/watch?v=bl-zQhr0V6g ).And one great ballad is "Lover" --- http://youtube.com/watch?v=7m6wRBNLJnM --- with Michael on lead vocals. God, I love that band.My favorite memory of that band was seeing them open for Foreigner in Louisville in 1981 --- in my opinion, they stole the show; their stage show was stunning in every way! Another great memory was seeing Michael on "Don Kirshner" singing an incredible acoustic version of The Beatles "Help" back in the '70s.Michael's website is at http://www.michaelstanley.com/ .Don Krider

Raspberry Rick
That was a GREAT interview!!! I couldn't figure out how to download it...so I just used a stupid cassette recorder with a built in mike, and put it next to my laptop. Low tech...but it worked. The guys sounded great and hinted there might be another tour if everything can be worked out. I hope the DVD just goes off the charts and our 'Berries are back in demand. Okay, so maybe they wouldn't be an 'Overnight Sensation'.....but I'd love to see them live again!! Thanks, Eric and Jim!!!

Trindy
Muzza and Kiwi, are you coming to Cleveland?Yeah, everyone go take a listen to Michael Stanley. You might just like what you hear. To this day I can never travel down a highway in winter in this town without thinking of those lines from "Lover": "Thank God for the man who put the white lines on the highway." To me that whole song wraps up how I feel about being in Cleveland in the wintertime. I have seen that road he is driving down a million times...Turnpike or not.
