Julie
Okay, this maybe a dumb topic, but like I said, I'm feeling a little bored. Let's say that we've all been hired to help Eric with a new CD. What talents/gifts/etc.... are you going to contribute to this effort? Do you play any instruments? are you a songwriter? maybe a PR person? Okay, I'll start. Hmmmm......see, this is why this is a dumb thread.....I can't do anything!!!I could play in a back-up band and I might be able to do some "breathless female" backing vocals......Anyone else?--Julie
darlene
Julie, I would be honored to play violin on this CD. --Darlene
MAM
I'll provide the studio & engineering.
Roonie
OK, I'm in as bass player with(35 years experience) This shows much creativity in creating Eric's All-Star Band!
marvin
Maybe this is what Eric needs to do: Solicit our help to get his new album going!? I'm not boasting, but I think I could easily help Eric with lyrics and melodies. As well, I could throw in a rhythm guitar here and there and supply back-up / harmony vocals. What do you think Andy?MARVIN
Kirk
I played a lot of keyboards in my youth, but really haven't touched them in the last 25 years. I also got 'volunteered' to play oboe in junior high band. Double reed instruments are a pain in the xxx! Anyway, don't think Eric has ever needed an oboe. Doubt I would still remember the fingering...Kirk.
Betsey
I'll do the PR and the radio promotion. It would be great to get back into the business!
jimmy whitefield
Ill probably lay some background keyboards..(where needed)..and arrange background vocals with him..and discuss stringparts....
darlene
Hey Julie, This sure wasn't a "dumb" thread, was it? It got everyone fired up and going! Kirk, you were an OBOE player?! I always had a thing for the oboe...I'm very impressed, whether you remember the fingerings or not. I had a crush on this oboist in All State Orchestra in high school...ah, but that's another story. I fell in love with his "A 440"... --Darlene
Tony Cartmill
I could help him write the songs, provide tight backing vocal harmonies, and best of all, I could run around naked on stage when we go on tour.Let's shoot for Woodstock 2004 as our opening gig. Steveh
I'm a good listener so I will give Eric feedback re: his songs. Steveh
Kirk
Darlene, my oboe was a real chick magnet (NOT!). Our band director, Robert Bright, had every instrument covered except oboe. He knew I had a little talent because I played keyboards, so he asked me if I would pick up the oboe. As they say, the rest is history...Kirk. bahoodore
Hey Marv! You do have a talent for lyric.,...that was my downfall as a writer, unfortunately I am pretty good at prose but lousy at poetry....Myself I could definitely arrange the vocals and sing as well. I also play bass, piano and guitar, but my playing is nowhere near good enough to do justice to a radio-quality recording. There are plenty of way more talented people in the instrumental department. Also I would provide some really good food (Indian, Lebanese, Spanish) cause you get so involved when recording that you tend to forget to eat....time flies in the studio!...Oh, and I'd bring a ping-pong table...when you're stumped, play a little ping-pong and all of a sudden you're creative groove is back!Bahoo
darlene
Andy, You REALLY know Marvin! If he hadn't had the good fortune to meet and marry Kristy, he should have lived with you! --Darlene
blackhawkpat
I'll do whatever it takes to get him back in the studio! I can write, play the piano, help sing, whatever he needs to get going. In the "Ask Eric" segment, he said he hates listening to the singing tracks over and over. I'll volunteer to listen to EC any day of the week, so I guess that means producing, too! Sign me up! bahoodore
Darlene....I could never live with Marvin. He is too neat, tidy and disciplined. I drink too much, stay up too late, swear too much and am totally unpredictable...Plus I'm not as good-looking as Kristy...on the other hand, I like to do housework, laundry, dishes, windows and I love to cook not to mention ironing and sewing... bahoo

marvin
Darlene, Andy and I go back probably 30 years or so and I think we know each other's idiosyncrasies pretty well, but living together, we would have been like the Odd Couple - even though I also like to cook and clean! We've played music together in almost every possible forum you could imagine, and we also both lucked out with the women that we ended up with. Tony Cartmill
Whew! They both like women. Good. I was starting to wonder there for a minute. Always being snowbound in their homes up there in Canada can drive men to do strange things. (Not that there's anything wrong with that...) darlene
Andy, You like to stay up too late? So do I!!!!(Either practicing violin or watching those yummy English mystery shows on A&E, or crime shows on Court TV, or old classic movies, (my husband's main complaint.)I don't drink, though, except for the occasional glass of wine. But you love to cook, clean and do laundry????!!!And you obviously love EC music...Where were you when I was SINGLE???? Yeah, I know, stealing your bass player's girlfriend... --Darlene
bahoodore
Hey Cart-dude...I hope you were not making any macho comments about our domestic faculties...we happen to be modern men who are proud to be part of a family and not lazy-snack-eating-football-TV-watching-slobs. Cold and snow have nothing to do with it... joie-de-vivre (look it up), maturity, and plain old fashion consideration and thoughtfulness has ALL to do with it...If men would only learn to stop being so macho, the women in this world would not complain so much about our "insensitivity"....Learn the lesson Cartmill...it ain't that hard to do. And trust me, the rewards are much greater than you could even imagine. Now that've given you my secret, free of charge no less, to being a successful man, I will respond to Darlene's comment:Where was I when you were single?...Probably raising my 3 daughters...Marvin is just starting on the parenting action, I got my done a while ago,...my daughters are now off to college!!!Marvin went the EC route, I went the Dave Smalley Route...LOL...!!!bahoo

LostControl
I'll sing, I'll dance, I'll bake cookies, I'll play violin, piano and organ. Have I mentioned that I can also twirl the baton? Can you tell I had a very busy childhood learning all these things?Michelle
Tony Cartmill
Andy, I have some pants that my wife can't seem to find time to hem. Could I send them to you for an expert hem job? I'll be waiting on the couch watching professional wrestling and Jerry Springer, with a six-pack o'beer and picking lint out of my belly-button... Just the way my woman likes me..................What?! <img border="0" alt="[blech!]" title="" src="graemlins/blech.gif" />
