Thoughts on a "Friday after the show..."

Re: L.A. Claim Jumper brunch---heck yeah, count me in, Razzmichi! I vividly recall---back in '98, I think it was---lunching at the Jumper with Scott, Wally, Jesse, Razzmichi and others, the day after Scott and Wally performed at Poptopia. I also recall a few guys who had traveled all the way to L.A. from Japan just to see the show and their taking picture after the gig---of Wally's guitar case. It was very cute.

I also had the thrill of visiting with Wally, Scott and Dave in the studio when they recorded REFRESHED in 2000. (i also was fortunate enough to write the liner notes to REFRESHED). Very nice guys, and the studio, coincidentally enough, is only three miles from my office in California. Dave also recorded his solo record there.

After speaking with Scott and Dave during the past few months, I can honestly say that I have never come in contact with any nicer, more genuine folks in the music business. I hope to one day meet Eric and Jim, too!

The picture of the case posted above is the original road case for Wally's Flying V that we purchased back in 72 (I think it was 72). I am not sure when Wally had the top of the inside recovered with the Lennon print. Yes, I will try to find out when and who!!

As far as the location of all of the original road cases they were sold when the band broke up except for a couple that Wally kept. This would include the cases for the Flying V, Gibson SG Double Neck and the Rickenbacker. I believe that one of the reasons the guitars have lasted so long and with little repair work required is due to these cases. They really protect the guitars, but are they ever heavy.

Additionally, Wally kept one of the wardrobe cases that we now used as a guitar coffin and a odd ball case (I think it was for one of the sound system speaker cabinets) that we use for cabling and odd equipment which includes K & B.

That is so great that he kept the case. The Flying V has been housed at the R&R Hall of Fame, right? When I went to the R&R Hall of Fame the day after the 11/26 show, it was missing form the Berries section of the Ohio bands area. I thought that was so cool, made me feel all warm laugh Where has the case been living? At thr R&R HOF, or at Wallys home?

A definite hallmark of Wally's sense of style! That is the coolest guitar case I have ever seen! It bespeaks volumes about its owner. Like I have always said, the intellect of each of the guys who became Raspberries is awe-inspiring. Each of these guys has intellect and musical insight WAY above even most successful musicians. The case is yet another testament to that. I would LOVE to see it in person.
