Rhonda B
Thanks, Susie and Bernie. Bernie always the promoter LOL. Very interesting thread Susie. I thought it was something like that and you're one step ahead of me. I was going to mention how timely this thread is.
susie b
And Ken & Barbie go on tour with the Raspberries! 😊 Who knew these kids had skills? Too bad they didn't get to perform vocally on the tour! 😎
Rhonda B
Susie, interestingly, the singing voice of Ken on this record was done by Bill Cunningham and he died 2 weeks ago today at the age of 96. He was the original voice of Ken in 1961. (not to be confused with the photographer, Bill Cunningham, who died in 2016). The voice of Barbie on this record was done by actress/singer Charlotte Austin, daughter of singer/composer Gene Austin. According to Google, she is still alive at 89 years old. Just a few fun facts I had looked up after hearing Cunningham had died. 1

Thank you for the info on Charlotte Austin as well as the other Ken. 😊
Lew Bundles
The real news about Barbie and Ken was posted in my November 2012 “Lewsletter” xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx On the Raspberries front, if any of you attended any of the band's reunion shows, you probably would have noticed the little Barbie and Ken dolls always prominently seated on stage with the band...Unfortunately, at the last concert, Dave Smalley's bass guitar was set at such a high volume that the vibration from the amp( Barbie was sitting on it) caused the lady to tumble to the ground and she was transported to a nearby hospital with severe neck and head injuries...Ken held a candlelight vigil by her bed, but unfortunately, he forgot that she was plastic and she melted...Ken was convicted of "doll slaughter" and received a suspended sentence... 1

susie b
Barbie & Ken sure do hang with the rock crowd. I just learned that Mark Ronson is the executive producer of the Barbie film score. Only the best for the blonde! Wish EC would have been asked to compose a song for the score.
Matthew C. Clark
I think that Reese Witherspoon is cuter than Margot Robbie!!
