raspathens
I listen to 70s on 7 a lot. Occasionally, I hear GATW, IWBWY, ONS (HR). Last evening at 6:58, Let's Pretend was played. I can't say for sure that it had never been played before then, but I sure hadn't heard it. Truly great music finds a way through. That reminded me of something that happened about ten years ago after a round of golf at Hilton Head. A group of us were having lunch at a "19th hole" bar when we heard a beach boys song. My son remarked how it sounded like Let's Pretend. The server, who couldn't have been over 20, overheard him, smiled remarked, "The Raspberries' Let's Pretend? I love that song!" Scott and I looked at each other like "are you frickin' kidding me"? 2
Lew Bundles
Crazy things like that happen sometimes…I remember delivering the USA Today newspaper in the wee hours of the morning for extra cash …I pull into a gas station and as I open my car door, the sounds from my 8-track player fill the pumping area with I’m A Rocker…A guy at the pay window yells out,”I love the Raspberries” and before I get to say anything, he hops in his car and drives away…
Kirk
I was walking the sales floor at my store, and I must have been humming Love Is All That Matters. As I walked by Starbucks the manager, who is Filipino, starts singing the words to the song out loud. I joined in and we had a good laugh. This was a couple of decades ago- before I realized how popular the song was over there.
