Joni Mitchell concert..1st time in 20 years.

Recommended Posts

Joni Mitchell,  from my hometown of Saskatoon, performed last night at the Newport Folk festival. Her 1st full concert performance in 20 years... A set list of 13 songs. She is still recuperating after a brain aneurysm in 2015 which took away her abilities to walk, speak and sing. At 78 years old, this is an amazing test of her endurance.   Even though she sang her songs an octave lower, she had a great group of gals behind her and an amazing band.   Anyone who has ever watched her perform will recognize some of her stylish hand movements. You can find these other songs on YouTube or just by googling..  She even plays the guitar.

Here is her set list: Screenshot_20220725-125125_Chrome.jpg.9fb8adcf478ec8de628233975971da9e.jpg

She did good......I liked the lower octave....her voice got better as they got deeper into the song.

P.S. if she did nothing more than write "Both sides now" she'd still qualify as great..

If anyone has Joni Mitchell's album called Clouds,  her self-portrait on the album is beautifully done.   She painted a very scenic view of our shared hometown city Saskatoon.

In the background you see the South Saskatchewan River and The Bessborough Hotel  which is still there today.   She is holding the Western Red Prairie Lily which is our provincial flower in Saskatchewan.
