One hit wonders of the 70’s

Recommended Posts

Some inteteresting tidbits about some one hit wonders from the 70’s(although I don’t see how some of these are considered “one-hit wonders)…

I’ll bet Matthew C. knew most of this stuff already…

Many of those were not one-hit wonders. The Spinners, The Doobie Brothers, Gerry Rafferty, The Knack, Don McLean etc. But still it was a fun list to go thru.

Some of the above are what hitters and some not , especially the Doobie Brothers and the Spinners who clearly charted time and time again.  The Knack had 2 hits  not one.

The Ides Of March featuring Jim Peterik "One Hit Wonder" (from 2000) (audio only) More than just the 1970 song "Vehicle"!!

Yeah they never heard the riff from Roy Orberson. Nicely original

Vin, your proofreader was off duty? The first phrase is a little foggy. "One-hitters"?

Days gone down (You´ve still got the light in your eyes)....my fave of his

Bakers Street....justifiably seen as a classic

Get it right next time......cool tune

Right down the line....I didn´t like this one, but it was a bigger hit than Bakers Street

McLean had SIX  Top 40 Hits:

Castles In The Air  #36
Since I Don't Have You   #23
Dreidel   #21
Vincent   #12
Crying   #5
American Pie   #1

So even if you want to use Top 20 as a definition of "Hit", he had 3.

The most glaring head scratcher from the list was Hall & Oates???  They had 5 Top 20 hits in the 70's alone and 17 more in the 80's.  Also, Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons?

yeah, I didn't look at the list and now I won't as its fake info!!
