Speaking of Canada and songs, I hear that Canada's Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, has banned the playing of Eddie Kendrick's "Keep On Truckin" on any radio stations. Also on his list of banned songs is "Convoy", by C.W. McCall!! Word has it Trudeau is considering banning the airing of all the Smokey and the Bandit movies as well.

🤣

Actually, I'd have to call Marvin and find out where Canada is before I could reply to this subject. Hahahahahahahahahaha

For those of you who don't get the joke- or even know who Marvin is- he's from Canada. He used to say that Americans don't know which provinces are where in Canada. He's probably right, but that's what I was referring to in the above post!

James, so pleased to see #4 choice The Poppy Family!! And you say you don't know anyone from Saskatchewan? Susan Jacks is from my home city Saskatoon Saskatchewan. I did get to see the Poppy Family perform once in Saskatoon in the 70s. I chat with Susan online. She regularly performed in Saskatoon coffee houses before she married Terry Jacks and they formed The Poppy Family. I really love Which way are you going Billy? She chose the name Billy for that song as it is her brother's name. This same brother provided her with a kidney for a kidney transplant that Susan had years ago that had to be removed recently and she is now on dialysis.. her health is frail. My favourite of hers is Evergreen which was also a song by Roy Orbison. Susan's voice is so pure and gentle and very easy on the ears. As you'll see from some of the visuals she's very easy on the eyes as well. I perform the song Evergreen usually at weddings but to me the meaning is lost,  as a new couple has yet to weather the storms of a relationship. It had the most meaning to me when I sang it for my parent's 50th wedding anniversary in 2003.  Our entire farm is surrounded by evergreens planted by my mom and dad. 😊

Great stuff, Rhonda. Please send well wishes to Susan from this guy. The Billy song is one of the very best from the era. It´s brilliant and probably should have been #1 or #2 on my lst.  Pretty underrated as too few talk about it, and it´s almost never played on oldies radio, at least where I´ve lived.

Joe Tanner wrote the song Evergreen. Yes I should have mentioned this was a solo released by Susan Jacks.  I love being on this site and connecting with people who have similar tastes as I do but I always think I'm alone in my likes.

Susan Jacks "Dream" album from 1975 (Mercury) contains the original "You're A Part Of Me" that went to # 90 in April of 1975 (Hot 100) & at # 18 (Adult Contemporary) (later done by Gene Cotton & Kim Carnes (Kim did the solo remake in 1976 & the duet in August 1978), "Love Has No Pride" (originally done by Bonnie Raitt & also Linda Ronstadt in 1973) & "Watching The River Run" (Loggins & Messina 1973 remake song from their "Full Sail" album) (audio only)

Ken Tobias "Collection" featuring the songs "Dream No. 2" (later done by Susan Jacks in 1975), "I Just Want To Make Music", "Fly Me High" (which almost sounds like Mark Lindsay), "Every Bit Of Love", "Give A Little Love" & "Stay Awhile" (done by Canadian group The Bells in 1971, written by Tobias) (audio only) Ken did NOT charted in the United States.
