Raspbernie
Not sure where his definition of “bubblegum” comes from.
LC
My thought exactly. That list has a lot of quality music on it—and much of it doesn't even have a toe in the "bubblegum" water. Bubblegum music, to me, is music aimed directly at kids in their pre-teen or early-teen years. It's the Archies doing "Sugar Sugar," the Partridge Family doing "I Think I Love You," and the DeFranco Family doing "Heartbeat, It's a Love Beat." It's typically a derogatory term... although within the category, there are some keepers. Back to the list in question... No, Joan Jett isn't bubblegum, nor are the B52s, Steve Miller, Queen, Boz Scaggs, the Police, the Cars, Eric Carmen, Genesis/Phil Collins/Mike + the Mechanics, and many others. Raspbernie
This list would more aptly named “Top 100 80s Hits.”
