40 Crankiest Musicians Of All Time…

Recommended Posts

I met Eric Carmen a few times and he was always a sweetheart! I met a childhood hero by random chance in a casino lobby in Las Vegas at a convention and he was an obnoxious, rude, nasty, condescending jerk. Napoleon Solo was his most notable role. He is now deceased.

Just like Bernie, I've met a lot of musicians through business or through friends.

I've dated musicians and met plenty of their peers.

Most have been wonderful.

Tony Bennett was an absolute gentleman as were Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison.  June Carter and Barbara Orbison were lovely.

Leonard Bernstein was mesmerizing!!!

Count Basie was a tiny bit fresh, but you couldn't get mad at an old guy in a scooter.

Elvis Costello was naughty in the green room, but that was many years ago.

Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart were total professionals.

Singer/actor Richard Harris was great fun at the IHOP at 2am.

The members of the Talking Heads were a blast!

Though not first hand knowledge of any of these, but second hand encounters:

1. I know a woman that was once helping out at a benefit that Marylyn McCoo  was involved with and reported that she was a first class jerk.

2. Another friend ran into Micky Dolenz in the restroom. It was just the two of them washing hands. Bob told Micky how much he liked the Monkees and their music, and Micky told Bob to F$%^ Off.

3. Worked with a fellow that sat near Marie Osmond at a basketball game and said she was very rude to everyone around her.

Again.....this is all hearsay.

I enjoyed reading thru the list, but with some guilt. What came to mind is some (or possibly many more) of these are based solely on rumor. The author even stated it at times. Also the artist doesn´t have an opportunity to explain his/her side. But their names still get despoiled.

Brings to mind a truth... I think is true: How you treat the cashier at the 7-11 in a town far away from yours, is a good barometer of your decency as a person.

So many of our celebrities preach from the high mountain how great they are and how they are the ones who truly love humanity, and how they want to save the world from barbarians like me/us etc etc etc....but then watch them deal with the 7-11 cleark, when they think they are anonymous and won´t have to face that 7-11 clerk, or the people in the store, again. Watch what they do with their McDonalds bag, while in their car after eating the hamburgers, anonymous via tinted windows in their car.......yeah, watch that McDonalds bag fly out the window!!

Anyway, a little sardonic and cynical here, but it´s an honest thought and a result of experience.

Marie Osmond rude? Say it ain’t so! Maybe all that yo-yo dieting got her cranky.
