LC
PS: Trailer for Dave Stewart's documentary.... It's such an entertaining turn of events. He was flying from England to LA, got rerouted to Nashville, and decided to write and record an album within a week, using some truly brilliant local musicians and calling in a host of great singer friends.

I love the one Pat highlighted in a different thread: If These Walls Could Sing. It delivers! Highly recommended. There are some very moving parts in there, like Paul McCartney rehearsing "Blackbird" and tapping his feet as he played guitar. So many great Beatles moments... yet it's hardly a Beatles-only affair. And as noted in Susie's bumped thread, I've lined up 20 Feet From Stardom for tonight. One of my all-time favorite documentaries is Dave Stewart: The Ringmaster General. I highlighted that one on another thread that I'm having trouble finding.... but it's worth a watch if you can find it. Sadly, Apple Music no longer has the songs from the soundtrack available! That's criminal! There are at least three A+ songs on the soundtrack: Stewart with Martina McBride doing "All Messed Up on Love," Stewart with Stevie Nicks doing "Cheaper Than Free," and Stewart with Colbie Caillat doing "Bulletproof Vest." This great video is lifted from the documentary. It occurs to me that Dave Stewart called in only female vocalists to help him on this project: Stevie Nicks, Colbie Caillat, Martina McBride, Allison Krause, Joss Stone, Diane Birch (who I remember got raves from Craig in the missing thread), The Secret Sisters.... Maybe he was just trying to meet women? Lol
RCT
Watched these over the last few days. Only the Dio one is new. Eagerly awaiting this one and the David Johansen thing upcoming on Showtime/Crave.
LC
Wow! Manson! The scoundrel who ruined "Helter Skelter" for years. Worth watching? Definitely want to see the Revival '69 one.... Thanks for these referrals!

It's different from other Manson bios in that it focuses more on the rock & roll aspect (Dennis Wilson, Terry Melcher) than the true crime aspect. Interesting talking heads, from music historians like Domenic Priore to several Beach Boys associates and even a "Family" member. The Ventures one is cool too. You learn as much about guitar techniques as the band itself.
Matthew C. Clark
Saw the late Ronnie James Dio (with Rough Cutt) at Pine Knob Music Theater back on August 30, 1985 during the "Sacred Heart" tour which included lighting techniques including a dragon & a explosion!! I had to stand on the chair with a couple friends of mine because the audience had to do it instead of sitting down!!! What a great concert which was my 2nd hard rock concert that I have been & the first down there in Clarkston, Michigan (near Pontiac)!! LC
RCT, I watched Stars on Guitars — awesome! I thoroughly enjoyed it. I didn't realize the Ventures sold as many records as they did — or that they made so many in the first place. Good call! My one criticiasm is that the producer didn't have enough ID tags as the file when along. So sometimes it takes too long wo Susie, I also watched 20 Feet From Stardom and loved that, too — even more so. Anther good call!

LC
Well, Matthew, in my humble opinion, HR Pufnstuf is nowhere near the level of the music documentaries noted on this thread. (Besides that, I found it kind of creepy when I was kid. How the heck did crap like that get on TV?)
