Bay City Rollers, Dedication, Ian & Wendy

James

Recommended Posts

I´d never heard this song until I happened onto it today on YouTube.  Really good song, ..I liked some of the Bay City Rollers songs, but this now qualifies as the best one I´ve heard from the group.

P.S. Many remember our member, Wendy,...she was one of the stars of this site back when she was posting,...anyway, it´s her husband on lead vocals.  He does a great job, sure sure.

I concur James. One of their best songs and after Ian left the band, so did I in a sense. I also had the great pleasure of talking with Ian Mitchell through Myspace messaging some years back. Think I may have also told Wendy this awhile back that he spoke very highly of her and sounded much in love with her and very happy. His message made me smile. Yeah.......she's part of a family here. Thinking she already knows that and hopefully she'll return to where she also belongs too. Take care all!

Sad to know that both of the Rollers who sang Dedication have passed in the last several years.

After Ian left the band, the lead vocal was hastily re-recorded with Leslie McKeown as the song was slated to be a single from the Dedication album.

We now know what a money making machine the BCR were for a group of corrupt businessmen, and those fellas didn't want to lose a dime.

Single version with Les on lead vocal...

PS- Although we all wish Wendy well, she would prefer not to be the subject of speculation or controversy in her absence from here. Hopefully, one day she'll be back. Thanks.

Finally James...you got something right. I am assuming you are away from your harem as you post. ;)

Bump...

Was thinking about Wendy today.

It's been a few years since Ian passed, and I hope she is doing as well as is possible when losing a loved one.

🙏

It's only been 2 1/2 years and every minute my heart is in pain but it doen't mean that I find happiness through the day. I wish I could say I was doing well, but I m not. Hopefully one day I will be better. As I have told others, for me it's like a deck of cards, I either fold or keep playing. I opt never to fold. I just miss him so much and I can't believe the tears I still cry. But that is the price of love...and well worth it.

Wendy has suffered a lot of heartbreak in her life. I, too, think about her a lot.

You were the first one to call me when Ian died. I was in shock but the call meant so much to me, babble about the funeral home men were coming and I don't know what else. But to hear your voice and then my other friends calling meant the world to me. Thank you so much, with much love too!

Ian was picked by the producer, Jimmy Ienner himself to sing this. I received a call from Jimmy the day after Ian died. It met the world to me...and he reminded me that Ian had the X factor...but I knew that. For me that would be an Xcellent catch for my future...no matter the ups and downs.

Sucked! Not even close to the beautiful rendition that Ian did. And BTW, Leslie INSISTED to re-record it. He was pissed that he wasn't chosen to be lead. This IS and will always be, Ian's song.

Wow…The senorita of all senorita’s makes an appearance and it is wonderful to see and read(although that shade of pink makes it difficult to read)…She was as important a poster on this site as there ever was with a fantastic wit and glamour to boot…She never got offended (I tried so hard) and was always quick to deliver a quip…She was an ally in our battles with the Sweet people and could really deliver a knock out blow…

She has taken a few of life’s toughest blows but it’s great to see that she keeps on chugging along…

I remember going to NYC to meet/visit her when she and her amigo, Tammie, came to town and she was a whirlwind…Bernie met us there and it it was so cool when you get a chance to finally meet the people that you have jousted, cajoled, caroused,  tormented, and befriended for years albeit from a distance but with such a bond that it’s hard to explain that dichotomy and dynamic to the uninitiated…

I hope she stays with us and is not a one time guest appearance…

Maybe James will waive his harem age requirement and let Wendy into the harem…That should keep her interested in us again…

Wendy! Hang in there. So great to see your pink posts, although I'm sorry to hear about the hard times. Love ya!

Hope you stick around for a bit. You are an icon here.

I speak Spanish during my days now, so I'd refer to Wendy as an Icona of ec.com.

Welcome back Wendy!

James

Planning a trip to Panama as soon as I am well....just FYI....I bring my own pillow, one less thing to think about. Then let's get photos and get some of the nosey BCR fans talking. Good gracious I never knew so many were just sucked into my life. No one gave a damn about me in high school. Bahahhaa ¡Olé!
