Raspberries Reunion: Any Chance?

So unfortunately, I didn't discover the berries until about 2 years back. I've quickly become a HUGE fan of their work. I watch the Sunset Strip DVD at least once or twice a week. I just can't get enough. I'm also a huge fan of live music, and I'd love to see my favorite band live. So this makes me wonder -- what are the chances? I know it really really probably won't happen, but is there a SMALL chance at least? Just one tiny bit of hope? I've been reading the forums a lot and found a statement from Eric 2 years back saying that it would probably happen if Wally wasn't a jerk. This made me wonder why they wouldn't just hire another guitarist. Also, can Eric still sing the songs well? He absolutely KILLED it back in 2004-2007, but that was 10-ish years back. If not I wouldn't mind if they played transposed lower... So are there any chances? Whatsoever? Just a chance that they could do a tiny goodbye tour? By the way I'm quite a bit younger than all of you -- sorry if I seem so greedy...

Sadly, my Bat-senses agree with you about a full reunion of the original Raspberries. Those of us fortunate enough to see them perform live during the reunion concerts should feel blessed to have been able to experience a once in a lifetime event. As far as Mr. Carmen going out and performing, I have high hopes of this being a reality. My Bat-wings are crossed too, Bernie.

So what do you guys think his vocal performance would be like if he were to play a few shows? He sounds alright on Brand New Year but some of his older work requires a big range. I can't imagine it'd be as smooth as it was 10 years back. Are there any videos of him singing from later than 2007?

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for an Eric Carmen concert tour too because since I first became a Raspberries and Eric Carmen fan a few months after The Raspberries Hall of fame show and since I'm quite a bit younger than most of the other people here as well, I never got the chance to see any of their concerts ---Tammy Quick

Nice to see another Wisconsinite on the message board! I agree with Bernie - Let's keep our fingers crossed for an Eric solo show! :)

After the 2009 HOF show, Eric was thinking more along these lines...from May of 2010:

"I don't know about you guys, but, personally, I'd rather be thinking about playing "Someday" and "Boats" and "She Remembered" than thinking about playing the Raspberries catalogue again.  She Did It, Nowhere To Hide, Run Away, The Way We Used To Be, American As Apple Pie, Last Night, Sunrise, Never Gonna Fall In Love Again, Desperate Fools,
Boats Against The Current, Make Me Lose Control, Hungry Eyes, Go All The Way, I Wanna Be With You, Let's Pretend, That's Rock 'n Roll, Hey Deanie, Someday, She Remembered, I Wanna Hear It From Your Lips, Almost Paradise, Tonight, Overnight Sensation.....not a bad set list, just off the top of my head, and I'm sure I'm leaving some good ones out."

  • 1 year later...

now it's been 7 years.... I drove from Texas, via Mich. to see them in Cleveland. I had a feeling this would be the last chance. I was right. 1400 miles and is was worth every penny. I even saw the Knack, as a warm up. with Fieger now gone, it makes it even more important. Eric and Wally will probably never play as the Raspberries again. I hope I'm wrong.
