Little Struggles!

What are some daily things you struggle with..not earth shattering...but vexing nonetheless...?

If I scratch my bumper..get a parking ticket...leave a bag of groceries at the store...

...these are things I can't rationalize....and claim that I was in top form...BUT these are things  that are really no big deal...yet I have trouble saying that the human condition is not to be perfect..and S#@T happens.

I also sometimes have trouble when I have a friend who currently, truly, is dealing with something more difficult than my present state..be it..illness...job...heartbreak..

I feel impelled to check in periodically to see how they are doing.

Yet when they have NEVER initiated a call to me just to say hi or just ask how I am...I get mixed up...I ain't sure it's O.K. that there's no reciprocation. .and I am not a big enough man not to resent it a little...

Hey,

Brother from another mother, Ira! You cannot mean me, your sister from another mister, as we keep in touch via text, chat and and actual telephone.

Hope your person of interest gets in touch soon.

You are a great friend and don't deserve to feel down.

Hugs to you and sweet Bev,

M.E.

I wanted to add, for me it's annoying I need more sound sleep than most people. Maybe between 9 to 10 hours a night to feel good the next day, get exercise and not feel exhausted, in pain and moody. My last REM cycle is long and sometime between 7 am and 9 am. If I have to get up earlier the cycle is interrupted. I've lived and worked as an early riser for 30 years so life has been difficult until recently since I retired. Struggles indeed folks!

Getting up from wherever I am seated, going into another room to look for something, finding something else I was missing, then going to put it back where it was supposed to be and going back to my seat --- oh, heck!

I just remembered I didn't get the thing I got up for in the first place. . . .  so I get up from my seat ---again--- go into the other room once more, my cell phone rings back where I was sitting, I go back to pick it up, finish the call in just a couple of minutes --- and sit down in my seat again ---DARN!!!

I should've talked while going back into that room to finish searching for that illusive item I had been looking for :insane: !!!   Well, I did get some exercise by doing my version of sit--ups, sit--ups, sit--ups.   Whew! I am mentally exhausted trying to remember stuff!

(This is a never-ending source of amusement for hubby who just sits quietly and smiles waiting for me to ask him if he has seen what I am looking for, and exactly where is it .... sometimes after a few trips I break down and ask him, though I try to do it for myself :blush2: )

M.E. .that was ABSOLUTELY NOT code for you...I am 63... I have a couple of friends who are struggling.....We're older now...BUT relationships should be somewhat reciprocal..and my asking how someone is..is not an invitation to sound like Everybody Loves Raymond's mother Marie.

Ah, Ira. I'm so sorry. You're a good friend with a kind heart.

I tend to isolate myself when things aren't upbeat in my life or when I'm sick. It seems to be getting worse as I age. Not depression per se — more of a "suffer in silence" kind of thing. And because I think others are like-minded, I probably don't check in with others like I should. Perhaps the same is true of your friend(s)?

Whatever the reason, I'm sorry.

Cheryl

I have friends that almost never use the phone anymore. Texting, social media, and that's it. Never hear their voice. I had to put my foot down when Commissioner Gordon wanted to retire the Batphone for a Bat-iPhone and send me texts when there was a major criminal at large!!!!   I mean, you can take just so much!!!

  • 2 weeks later...

All our lives...we've been told..."Don't put your fiingers on the glass"...be it ..windows in our homes...the coffee table...the car windshield...NOW...we have cool IPhones and Ipads...and what are we supposed to do...?

Put our fingers directly on the glass screen...and in 90 seconds  after purchasing these BEAUTIFUL new devices we just bought... we have fingerprints and salsa...all over them...

I've had many trials and tribulations in my life...BUT this dilemna...I'm not sure I can rise above... :(
