susie b
Sweet Ira, I forgot about this beautiful song. This WASP/FC (WASP/ French Catholic) goyeh hybrid appreciates the gentle reminder. Both renditions are gentle, lovely & sweet; perfect songs for a cold & rainy Mid-Atlantic morning. Remembrance of lost love... Evokes the visceral... Tailor made for EC. Mary Ellen
I'm a French-Catholic-Jewish hybrid myself, Susie. With regard to a Slave/Addicted to Love theme, I'm thinking more Bryan Ferry than Robert Palmer for Eric, but also, perhaps:
AnneNR
Weeeelllllllllll. . . . maybe... could be......but I still would like to hear Mr. Carmen doing the slightly gruff rock kinda stuff like "What You're Doing" and "Man In Motion" brings out. John Parr gives a hint at what Mr. Carmen would be able to do with the bridled ENERGY feel one gets hearing songs like these two which Blackhawkpat suggested, and I am wondering, and have been racking my brain for different songs with the "rock" feel that the "rock" Eric Carmen could really sink his teeth into...... Pump up the exhilaration, so to speak. AnneNR P.S. --- I wonder if Mr. Carmen still does the same thing that we all do at home multiple times in our lives --- just for fun, grab something that isn't a microphone but would stand in nicely for one, and just sing a bunch of different songs of other artists just to see how he would style it to his own voice??? (NO SMIRKING, even those of us who may not have the "gift" or "trained talent" will sing at the top of our lungs to any number of songs that encourages us to sing along.)
Mary Ellen
I was commenting on the Robert Palmer v. Bryan Ferry styles and songs only, but I like both styles actually. For some reason Don't Let Me Down keeps popping into my head right now. My belief has always been Eric has the best voice in pop music, so I don't like to compare him with Paul McC because they are both too close to the apex. For that reason, I personally wouldn't want him to sing Paul's songs. Weeeellllllll....maybe........could be.........& hopefully....when Eric has time he will let us know if he likes any of our choices which lovely Susie has given us the chance to dream on a bit. In the meantime, keep your thinking cap on Anne for those amped up songs.
AnneNR
If a Robert Palmer song is something Mr. Carmen takes a liking to, perhaps he would consider doing "Every Kinda People" ?? --- it's my favorite Robert Palmer song. ira
Susie..I just got SUPER NACHAS...reminding a good friend of a beautiful song is actually 5.7 x cooler than turning someone on to a beautiful song..😀. BTW...That's an official mathematical formula..!

marlene
Hmmmm...It'd be fun to hear Eric do something kinda funky like "Chain of Fools" or the (very romantic) Boz Scaggs number, "Love, Look What You've Done To Me".
paperdoll82
Eric would KILL on "Love Look What You've Done to Me" AND "St. Elmo's Fire." Cheryl
okstevens
There would be many and depending on the day it would surely change but I always thought Eric's cover of Wally's Send a Ship. The first time I heard it I wondered how the song would have come out if they were still Raspberries. The other would be The First Cut is the Deepest.
Ron Sutton
Love is All Around is a very interesting choice, I like it.

Julie
Hmmmm.......I am a big John Waite fan and would love to hear him do either something by John, The Babys or Bad English.......just not sure which one........I'm leaning towards, "Silver Dreams" by Babys because I love it so much (even though John doesn't sing lead on the whole song). The end of the song has some high notes and I can hear Eric singing it in my head
sawalker45
Cheryl, brilliant idea Eric singing my other favorite rockers tunes- Rod Stewart! Do Ya Think I'm Sexy... Sherrie
ter2
Fun reading all of the song ideas! I'm going to add " Is This Love" or "Here I Go Again" by Whitesnake. As a ballad, how about "Have I Told You Lately?" by Van Morrison? Terri
Nancy
Two "Beatles" songs come to mind.........."Ticket To Ride"........AND......."Baby's In Black". Heard them sung live by "Raspberries" and it was too cool AND I know Eric could also kick ass singing them again, all by himself!... Either way.........a cool post! ~~~Nancy.~~~
prettymom777
BUMP. and I sure apologise for our folks giving Rush to the world. With permission and royalties, I'd love to hear Eric Carmen's rendition of Bruce Springstein's "Dancing in the Dark" and see him dance with his own wife! LC
This thread, started by Susie, reminds me of another thread that's listing fantasy Eric covers. Great minds!
