For those ladies to whom it may make a difference -- Mr. Carmen's "fanny" in a music video would not be an unwelcome sight. ;)

(Mr. Carmen's "fanny" has just got to be better than the one on the guy in the airport video!!)

When it comes to "fanny" or not, I say "fanny" (derriere) is probably better than not!  :P

I talked to Tim Smith at Sony, yesterday, and he believes there ARE royalties paid, but I haven't been able to find out what the royalty rate is, yet.

Up over 13.5 million hits, though!

Mr. Carmen ---

Forgive my ignorance, but how do you get paid for hits on a viral video ?

Who gets charged?  The individual hitters?  The individual hitters' internet service provider?  And does it really make a difference as to how many people take a peek at it?  Tracking royalties on this sounds like a nightmare --- I just can't fathom how this works. . .

. . .  and from the other thread where you tell us about downloading songs and all that, will you even get paid whatever portion it is they say you should get?

My best guess is that the video itself doesn't pay royalties, but every time anyone in the media plays it, they have to report a play of "All By Myself," which does generate royalties. But like I said, that's my best guess as to how it would work.

Are there "ABM police"? Many years ago, I received a very kind letter from the Velcro police, thanking me profusely for using the name of their product in an article — before politely yet firmly reminding me that Velcro is a trademark and, as such, should ALWAYS have a capital "V." (The Styrofoam police nabbed another staffer a few years later.)

After a period of time, trademark names like "Kleenex" become a part of the common lexicon.  Who says, "Pass me a facial tissue"?  Nobody!

:::ahem::: That would be me. LOL (Actually, I say, "Pass me a tissue.")

I *do*, however, refer to all soft drinks as "Coke." It's a Southern thang. "You want a Coke? What kind of Coke? I've got Coke, Diet Coke, Mountain Dew, Dr Pepper ..." :D
