Open Letter To Marvin

Funny thing is, I, too, respect Marvin's opinions. He doesn't have to "love" every single track I've ever cut. Hell, I could list twenty Beatles tracks that I think are AWFUL!!! I'll tell you what "got me" more than anything else Marvin has ever said.

It was something like "I learned a long time ago, love the music, NOT the musician." I paraphrase, but that was the gist of it. What that said to me is simply this: Marvin can like and respect my musical achievements, but that doesn't mean he has to like me.

I respect his viewpoint, but it irks me when someone I don't know passes judgement on me PERSONALLY, especially based on bogus information, fed to them by people with an agenda. I hate having to defend myself. I can't really do it, without calling Wally and Kay liars. And so, for the most part, I have just let it go. Honestly, I literally spend zero time thinking about Wally and Kay, until they kick up some new dirt. This stuff is ancient history, and the truth is out there for anyone inclined to look, and add two and two together. Wally's bitterness saddens me. It saddens Jim, too. Michael and Scott were caught in the crossfire. The damage Wally has done to ALL of our lives cannot be calculated. And yet, HE feels "wronged." I'm done talking about this. I don't want this website to become a bummer, and a source of discord. Negativity always attracts more negativity.

Somebody post something positive. Let's move on.

Something positive for E. I mentioned to Harry Maslin, who stated that he LOVES the TYM album, that the two of you should work together again. Just a thought & a question. Is it possible that Harry could have been your 'George Martin"? Jimmy I. was great, no doubt, but something about the sound & vibe of your collaboration with Harry seems so special, as if it was a true collaboration. So the question- would you consider working with Harry again?

It seems thet it is the first step towards the Imperial Rule Assistance Association. I think it is one of the reason that it isn't active recentry here. We should a lively discussion with respect each other.

You should not oppress others opinion even if you are not like the opinion. Because it is the way to find brand new and move forward!

I find it incredible that they'd flushed out just about the whole arrangement, vocal and instrumental, and still had that cockamamie vocal ending! I wonder, at what point John or Paul ( or perhaps, Sir George Martin ) suggested the notes we have heard at the end of the chorus all of our lives. That change certainly made a WORLD OF DIFFERENCE!!!

Finally I have something to add to this thread. Eric 20? 20 Beatles songs? I always thought if I didn't know a song was a Beatle song would I have the almost instant love for it. Same with just about any Cleveland group. I JUST LOVE CLEVELAND GROUPS!

The one Beatle song that I hit next on the ipod almost always is the "Long and (whiny) Winding  Road". I just hate the beginning of that song.

Anyone else want to add to the list?

"Twist and Shout" I think, was originally done by the Isley Brothers, and was featured in "Ferris Beuhler's Day Off" --- you know, the scene on the parade float . . .Ringo had talked about recording "Twist and Shout" and that John Lennon's throat was really tore up by the time they went to record it, but it worked with the song.  Heavy harmonica is "Love Me Do", but a better one with a lot of harmonica is "I Should Have Known Better".

There's quite a few of the later stuff like "Get Back", "Come Together", mostly the psychedelic tunes I just can't appreciate. I also have "The Long And Winding Road" way the heck down on my like list for the Beatles.

(A church I attended actually altered the lyrics to "Come Together" to make it about Jesus Christ and used it, more than once, for praise and worship before the sermon--HORRENDOUS!  I may not like this song, but turning it into sloppy seconds to sing to the Lord, THEY MADE IT EVEN WORSE!!!  yuk!  I always left the sanctuary, refusing to sing that to the Lord.  :)  )

Eric,

I made a similar response/comments back when this "situation" began.  I also agree with Nancy about hitting your head on the wall.

From what I've come to know about Marv, he's a good person and a big fan of yours still.  However, delving into topics he KNOWS will upset you specifically isn't kosher here and why should it be?

My thoughts on why you'd taken Wally's name off the GATW credit were also requested by a few folks.   Since I don't recall you ever telling me exactly why, :) I said you didn't have to give Wally credit in the first place.

It's one of the reasons I specifically wanted to support your comments when you began the KB's FB page post and I was online at the time.

Something I believe everyone should remember too is because we are writing and trying to share details and emotional feelings and situations via summation(s), things may come across as snarky or even hateful.

I have strong opinions myself, however with regard to Eric and his music, I'm generally, kinda, sorta, always on the absolute positive end of the spectrum.

I love my guys here, but Eric is first on the list.

It's difficult to write popular songs that are hits.

Wally should be the very first to admit that.

If he could, that would be astounding.

But, with all the bands, that didn't happen.

Even with Wally being in any band that he played in.

It was impossible, even for him.
