7 Minutes With Eric Carmen

Great interview, hate to be negative but 7 minutes was way too short. The countdown timer was making me nervous! I'm thinking,"Give us 15 or 20 minutes. Cut out the pothole segment and extend Eric's time!" So cool to see Eric getting recognition once again.

Thanks, Russ, for the great interview. And who knows, maybe  Eric will have a Hall in Europe named after him and some o the names of the people who  influenced him, in classical music. With a concert, a party and dedication of the Hall. And video streaming, if that was possible, for people who couldn't be there.

I've wanted to comment on this interview for a while, but been dealing with a big, black, garden snake loose in my house. I've been talking sweet to him. Asked him politely to scoot on down to the basement and eat some mice. Maybe that's where he is now.

Anyway, I looked at Eric's interview several times and, bottom line, I think it was spectacular PR for him and for "The Essential."

Maybe many factors came together in that swift seven minutes to make it so. Most important may be the impact of the visual. Seeing--and not just hearing Eric (as in the radio interview)--made a world of difference.

This interview had an appealing, overall relaxed feel. Eric's easy interactions with the reporter, plus the backdrop of his house, helped create a comfortable and homey ambiance that viewers could sense and see.

Eric hit his talking points well as he answered the questions. All the while coming across as intelligent, articulate, charming and witty. That spontaneous comment about Dick Clark towards the end was humorous and delightful.

I came away realizing how valuable it is for people to see Eric talk, smile and laugh.

He's got charisma. Always has. Always will. But radio just can't get the job done.

To sum up. . .we need more EC on TV! Can somebody work on that?

Cheryl, I completely get what you're saying. At first, it was freaking me the f**k out.

Then I had to remember my native American spiritual teachings. . .that this non-poisonous, friendly snake is also a mystical and sacred child of the Earth Mother.

I'm at peace with him. But I would certainly prefer for him to stay out of the living quarters.

RMW, you're one cool customer!

I would be greatly at peace if snakes NEVER got indoors ANYWHERE.  Snakes ---- eeewwwww    :o   (even though they serve a great purpose), and a close second to sharp-fanged snakes is hypodermic needles ( I would never make it as an addict that has to use needles --- Kinda like Renfield failed as a vampire  )

Is the snake still in your basement??!   If so, I will pray diligently for his catch and release back into the wild. . .

AnneNR, with my sympathies!!

. . . sorry, back to the originally broadcasted topic thread  INTERVIEW  WITH  ERIC CARMEN  (7 minutes still way too short, but made good use of what was allowed)

AnneNR, I love your emoticon! And thank you for your prayers. . .

I am hoping Mr. Snake is either in my basement or back outside in the yard. I have seen him over the years on my front porch and in the flower beds next to the foundation. So, I think he has his own secret avenues in and out. This is just the first time he has ever made his way to the INSIDE of the house. Now, I am pondering what meaning and message The Great Spirit may be sending me. The synchronicity of the snake's visit with my birthday feels too powerful to ignore.

And yes, I think the TV interview with Eric reflected very good use of those precious seven minutes.
