"The Announcement: Eric Carmen will join me on the phone next Saturday on Retro Radio! He will talk about his early days in the Cleveland rock scene with Cyrus Erie, and how it all evolved into The Raspberries. He'll also talk about his new song, "Brand New Year," his first in over 15 years! Tune in next Saturday from 3-5:30pm (eastern) on WJCU 88.7FM or online at wjcu.org!"

I think it will be interesting to hear the questions that a 20something year old will have for Eric. This is a new generation of Raspberries and Eric Carmen fans. I love that you can listen online from anywhere in the world. Don't forget, it is today.   :)

Joe did a great in-depth interview.

Eric's usual flair for story-telling was informative and filled in some gaps about the timing of group formation.  Geez, no wonder The Quick didn't make it for long.  Those 4 boys were super hot as performers, but anything resembling Spooky Tooth must have been a bust musically.

Very upbeat and enjoyable listening experience for this captured and enraptured audience member.

;)

p.s. Eric, Wanted you to know hearing you on the radio again...it sounded really good on you!!  xo

Thanks Bernie for your post.

I decided to tune in; in hopes to finally hear my favorite song in its entire new splendor. However, by the time I remembered, it was (almost) too late and with the time difference I got a bit confused. But...as fate would have it, I tuned in just before the DJ signed off, and lo and behold, as I was about to X out of the program, I heard...

â€I can’t sleep nights...â€

and,

I...just...listened...

Perfection...thy name is “Let’s Pretend.â€

It was delicious and exciting to hear Eric online for 88 minutes !

Wendy-Ann,

Don’ t worry. I made the record for those who wasn’t able to listen to the live radio stream.

Will post  it very soon (uploading  :spin: ).

If there will be copyright problems I will not do it of course.

I also have AAC file (much better quality) but it’s impossible to upload it to YouTube.

Sorry but I had to delete full version and cut off the songs because of copyright problem.

Cayennegirl,

Yes, it was 88 delicious minutes that I reduced to 61 delicious minutes (no songs included).

I'll take the 61 minutes!! :)

Your blossoming video expertise is greatly appreciated by all here.

Hugs,

M.E.

Kirk, it took me three hours to listen to (at work, with interruptions), and when it got to that part, my daughter decided to call me. And talk. And talk. AND TALK. The whole time, I'm thinking, "Honey, I love you more than life itself, but your timing stinks." ;)

My other favorite parts: Discussion about "Get the Message" and how it chosen as the B side for "Sparrow": "Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's great! That sucks!"

And the part about Clapton was a surprise. Not sure why, but it was.

Thanks for posting. Finally had the chance to listen to it in one sitting. Wish Eric had a weekly talk-radio program in which he could express his views. Maybe even a syndicated radio show where he could comment and be a DJ (like Alice Cooper does). Great insight from Eric. Really had to agree with his opinion on Clapton- virtuoso indeed, however, lacking a degree of "feel". Would rather hear the solo to "Something" or "Maybe I'm Amazed". Pure feel! Same with Jeff Beck, incredible guitarist but after 5 songs, I'd be like, "OK, let's have a melody, bridge, harmonies, great vocals, etc..." Great interview & thanks again for posting it!
