Wow! "The Essential Eric Carmen" will release on 11 March!!!!

Do you write new songs(I hope 2 or more and more and more!!!!)?

Can't wait untill March!

Another of his legends will born on "11".

Do you remember this topic "Eric and 11"?

Adventurine,

These many "11" connections are very cool indeed!

Master Number 11 "The Visionary" (the power of creative forces and the necessary lesson of balance)

11 is the number of combined forces. It represents and symbolizes the physical form merging with the invisible energies of imagination, creativity, inspiration, belief, and desire.

An individual associated with the Master number 11 will usually be a teacher, artist, mystic, leader, or philosopher. They will be charismatic, friendly, warm, inviting, but will also be mysterious and enigmatic.

Eric, You are definitely all of the above and so much more! xoxo

I've been away for quite a while due to my wife's health. Things are much better now, so I'm trying to catch up. I've checked in a few times but didn't have time to post.

News of this "Essential Eric Carmen" project is a little bittersweet for me. First, I'm happy for EC. It's a crime how underrated and overlooked this man's music is. I'm all for anything that might remedy that. If it also happens to rekindle EC's passion for writing and performing...well, then...we all win. I'll be waiting for March 11, 2014 to buy my copy and I'm sure I'll love it. My problem is that I like EC the Rocker...but I love EC the Balladeer. It sounds like this project is all about EC the Rocker. I'm not complaining. I can only hope that this CD sparks such an interest in EC's music that Sony will have to follow up with "Essential Eric Carmen: The Ballads". IMHO, the ballads are where the genius of Eric Carmen really shines. Some of those songs are so PERFECT. I'm not trying to start a debate of rocker vs. ballads. EC is great at both and I know most fans prefer one over the other. I just happen to prefer the ballads. I'm happy for all the Raspberries / Rocker fans. I'm sure you're as giddy about this project as I was when I thought the Severance Hall concert was going to happen. Like I said, anything that's good for EC is good for all of us.

Having recently been exposed to more Eric Carmen music than I knew when I was younger, I look forward to this CD in any form, rocker or a balladeer. But, I can understand if a musician puts out different types of music why a music enthusiast may be more particular about one kind. Also, I'm almost in the category that Sony is marketing to because I'm in my early 40's (very early ;) ). I remember Eric as a solo artist in the 80's but I still haven't been exposed (until recently) to much of his music. YouTube has only so much to offer of any artist's music. So any style of music, be it old or new, is new to me and I'm open to listen!

Duane and Stacy,

E's musical vision has always been complex and I don't think we'll be disappointed.

Seems to make sense Sony marketing would also look to a somewhat younger target audience.  For example, "Get The Message" was written by a young Eric for a young audience.

Surely fans of all ages are going to be thrilled with this new collection.

One of the things I love about Eric is that the depth of his talent and intellect give him unerring instincts--he's always spot on with everything, so he'll know exactly what to write and how to present it to whatever audience he needs to target. He's a musician's musician and his music and his instincts are absolutely timeless.  His music is all at once classic and contemporary because he has a perfect sense of "appropriate." That's what makes his music universal and universally appealing.  He'll know what to write and exactly how to package and deliver it.

Hi Duane,

Fear not. There are going to be THIRTY TRACKS on "The Essential," and there are plenty of ballads. ( How could we do a record like this and NOT include "All By Myself" (the LONG version), "Never Gonna Fall In Love Again", "Run Away," "Nowhere To Hide", "Love is All That Matters", "Desperate Fools" and "The Way We Used To Be," etc ?)

And, BTW, the "new" song is really cool. I'll be heading out to L.A. on December 7 to record it with all my buddies from Brian Wilson's band.

Eric, any chance this will be issued on vinyl, too? Just curious because it's making a huge comeback! A friend has owned a "record" store for over 30 years here in northeast Ohio and he says his sales of new & used vinyl are what have been keeping him in business the last couple of years. Can't wait to pick this one up! Best of luck, Eric.

It just occurred to me this moment -- if you are going to sing "Somewhere" with the Beach Boys' band at any point -- then I really will need a fainting couch and some smelling salts!   Everything you mentioned to be on the cd - ballads and rock songs (yay!) - will be superb!!

Your two babies will be so proud of you and your work Eric, and I know that means the world to you.

As for me, I'm waiting (not so patiently) to see and hear "the hottest man alive" too - as quoted from alsnana1. ;)

You picked a great time to come to the West coast Eric.  The weather will be in the low 60's and most likely sunny this time of year. Well, that's the weather report for where I live in Orange County, but LA is only 40 minutes away. Anyway, sunny is what we do best in SoCal.

Years ago, I was able to sit in at a rehearsal at S.I.R. in LA and Courtney Love and her band were in the studio next door.  That woman's language was peeling the acoustic padding off of the ceiling! :)
