Christmas with Eric

When hubby and I first met, we fell in love to John Denver music.

I know most will probably say "blah" to that, but his music did play a part in our courtship.

We married in 1973 and in 1975 John put out the "Rocky mountain Christmas" album.

Naturally we grabbed it up, and it became the Holiday staple at our house.

Our two Children grew up listening to that album every single year.

My hubby passed away ten years ago, and to this day we can't listen to that music.

I watched the tree lighting show at Rockefeller Center tonight, and Rod Stewart was on.

He, along with Cee Lo Green, have put out Christmas albums this year.

My question to Eric is this, would you ever consider making your own Christmas album?

Original songs, or not, I would love to start a new tradition with my Family.

I would love to start it with you.

Thank you so very much Jerry! I love Richard Marx!

I have about worn out my "rush street" CD.

The song "keep coming back" is the best!

I had no idea he put out a Christmas CD.

I'm sure it will be fantastic, and I plan to get one.

The two songs that always bring me to tears during the Holidays...well, anytime actually, are "Oh holy night" and "Ave Maria"

With Eric's incredible voice, and musical genius, I'm sure he could make a wonderful Christmas CD.

One that would withstand the test of time. :)

Thanks again Jerry. Your the best!

I've always wondered if Eric will ever be moved to create a holiday album. I would guess not, but... if he did, I'd love to hear his treatment of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas."

I LOVE this song LC! I was going to do it for the CD I helped make for my church, and was to record it on Sept. 15, 2001...we all know what happened on the 11th. Being that it was the last track to be recorded, everything was canceled and...the CD was put out with the songs recorded during July and August. Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed.

Anway, again...love, love, love that song! You (per usual) have GREAT taste in music.

I think I remember that episode -- wasn't that a kids-melt-Grinchy-character story line?

Not bad at all!

Actually, it was the "grizzled but kindly loner" in a ghost town telling a story about the town's history in which the Partridge crew played old west denizens of the town (another tried and true sitcom angle). The old man was never grinchy, rather Reuben Kincaid played the grinchy guy from the past.

The grizzled guy teared up because he thought he was spending Christmas alone (once the Partridges fixed their ailing bus), but they felt sorry for him and came back to spend Christmas with him. Nice episode, nice song.

Ah, it's all coming back now, David.

A couple years ago, my girls (now 13 and 9) noticed a couple of Partridge Family DVD sets at the library, so they checked 'em out — first Season 1, then Season 2, and watched all of the episodes over the course of a few weeks. They loved it. I watched a number of the old episodes with 'em but I must have missed that one. (The skunk episode with "I Think I Love You" comes to mind as one I remember, and there was another that stood out because of "She'd Rather Have the Rain" — another nice song. I think Reuben had some young babe lined up in that one, but of course it fell through.)

Interestingly (or not), it took a few episodes for my girls to realize that Reuben wasn't the dad or the husband. :)

After that phase, they moved on to another old sitcom set (Gilligan's Island, I think; they had already soaked in a few seasons of Brady Bunch....).
