Julie
There are lots of songs that strike that chord with me ever since my husband passed away. I'm not a country music fan, but whenever I hear Garth Brooks' "The Dance" I lose it. Not just a few tears, but buckets full. Eric's "I Was Born To Love You" gets me every time too as we always danced to that one and had it at our wedding reception.Paul Davis' "I Go Crazy" has always had the ability to tear me up too.Julie
LatetotheParty
Great thread topic Ira! 3 songs come to mind and they all remind me of being young: The Beatles "Long and Winding Road" reminds me of being young and hopeful. And ESP these 2 songs; they both remind me of being young and in love:Chicago "I've Been Searching So Long" and Boston's "Something About You."Nice memories. ira
Dave...You mention Manilow's "When October Comes".Many of us have had a relationship with a woman that ended...and for one reason or another...it was right not to marry her...But "Even Now"...we miss her.IMHO...this is THE best song ever written about the love of someone who was wrong for us...but who we always will miss...Manilow's "Even Now". LatetotheParty
For my 1000th post, I wanted to chime in here because all of you have uploaded such great stuff:Ira...I LOVED "Even Now" by Barry Manilow; I was a huge fan in the 70s; one of my favs by him was "Somewhere in the Night.." one of his really passionate songs IMHO.Monica...LOVED Martina..she is gorgeous and what pipes! I don't like country music, but I love Martina's voice.Tony...I commented earlier on Art Garfunkle; i loved all three of your uploads..So, in the spirit of my 1000th post, I thought, I would upload 3 of my favorite Eagles tunes because I have been a HUGE HUGE fan of Eagles esp Don Henley and Randy Meisner..early years esp. I have always thought these to be 3 of their best tunes...and that is tough because of their amazing catalog..1. "Is It True?"

People always try to analyze my love for the Eagles, Springsteen, Raspberries, Eric, etc, and I always say that while there are songs in Springsteen's, Eric's and the 'berries' catalogue that I don't care for, prior to "Long Road Out of Eden", there was NOTHING in the Eagles catalogue that I didn't like. LatetotheParty
Hey Jean you don't like country what about Mac Davis? Love the Eagles choicesMonica Actually don't know too much by Mac Davis; I remember his show from the 70s, but not much about individual songs.Country is HUGE where I live and I hear stuff in friends cars, but I really have never been into it...love Johnny Cash; he is just classic. I guess its the twangy stuff I just don't like.Early Eagles had a country vibe; that is the closest I get to liking "country.." and like Marvin, I am a HUGE HUGE Eagles fan and have been since day 1 (and, also like Marvin..huge Bruce fan too...)
