Driving Around
I had the good fortune of renting the owner's suite for the opening at House of Blues, Cleveland for the reunion show. Very memorable. Those joining me all had history with Eric, unlike myself who just was a fan of the band since teenage years (and worked in the industry a bit in my youth). I don't get on the web site(s) often - but wondering - since Eric said he would tour again, play Raspberry catalog and his solo items with people who were "happy" to be there - my question is WHEN? If we can't get the original band together, I'd be happy to hear Eric tour with a band he puts together. I assume he checks the forum...I have the means to promote a tour date on the east coast (have brought in others that I loved from my youth -just recently Dirk Hamilton)....So if plans are ever in place would love to get an email from someone to let me know...since I have not been on the site since that thanksgiving weekend concert!Jon
darlene
Hi Jon! We ALL would love to know when Eric plans to perform again. What a great offer! I hope we hear something from him soon. --Dar
Eric Carmen
FYI, I was contacted by the conductor of the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, a couple of months ago, and we've been discussing the possibility of an "All Rachmaninoff" concert. The initial idea was that the orchestra would play Rach's Symphony No. 2, and then I would come on stage and we'd play a new arrangement of "Never Gonna Fall In Love Again" together. After the intermission, I would perform "All By Myself" with the orchestra, and then they would play Rach's Second Piano Concerto. This sounds like fun to me, as it's something I haven't done before, and it would be wildly inspiring to create new arrangements, that are better than the originals. J.R. Cassidy, their conductor is a very cool and interesting guy. We spoke last weekend, and it's down to picking one of three dates which will have to be done very soon. I'll keep you posted. e
Eric Carmen
I had Tim Smith send J.R. a copy of "The Essential" last week, because I think there are other songs that might be able to be part of that performance, based on classical pieces. I received an email yesterday from J.R., and he's ready to go. It's just finding the right date. I'm thinking April, 2015 looks the best.

AnneNR
That sounds like an absolutely great mix!!! Orchestra AND back up musicians and vocal harmonies --- why the heck not?? If anyone could pull off a mix like that it has just got to be you with all your musical upbringing and innate Yahweh-given gifts!! You can handle the complexities and simplicities and meld the concepts and theories smoothly together, like when you were conceiving the components to put a song together to include flavors from The Who, The Beatles and The Beach Boys. You don't just have mental visual concept ability, but just like some famous conductors I have learned of, you also have the mental "hearing" of what your invented concept should sound like and how to go about achieving it. Such a creative and challenging undertaking! I would hope someone could do a behind-the-scenes documentary of it and a DVD documenting of the actual concert event to stand alone from the documentary. THAT would really be something to look forward to!!! An excited AnneNR
Nancy
I personally think when it comes to you and your music, the sky is the limit and.....I also think very highly of you for considering this grand opportunity, if workable...because wanting to perform your music with a symphony orchestra it would no doubt sound like pure heaven....Not to also mention for you, this would also be something you mentioned you have not done before. That would also be the same for me. In saying that, if this door opens for you, would this also be open to the general public too because this interests me very much so and....I SURE would love to attend this once in a life time experience too? Warm Regards, ~~~Nancy.~~~
Kirk
Very exciting news! I see this as a renaissance of sorts...first, songwriting becomes appealing again after penning Brand New Year...next, new arrangements of old favorites for...a future performance... Writing, arranging, performing- the universe is lining up all things Carmen! Looking forward to seeing where this all leads

Maybe our friend Darlene knows someone in the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra that can block off some tickets for us? Oh, and wouldn't it be cool if she could sit in with the Orchestra?! MikeD
This project would also make a great album. Maybe Eric could include a favorite cover tune like "God Only Knows" or "Walk Away Renee".

Mary Ellen
Brian's GOKs is in my top 5 songs ever so it would be brilliant performed as a classical tune. I know Dar is working hard these days, so she could easily be ready to play in the EC Orchestra. Bernie you are wonderful! If you provide a special avenue for E's top friends and fans here to buy tickets, I hope the link etc. won't be shared outside of this website until it's time for general public sales. The Kiwi Connection
We are planning our holidays for next April, so if a concert is happening it would be great to have a date as soon as possible so we can book our International Flights, and make plans for internal travel/accommodation also
