bahoodore
Eric would be a great addition...he has enough Angel and enough Devilin him, plus add the music knowledge, from songwriting, arranging, stage produce, show biz flair, great hair, instant recognition factor for his work...AND he can spot talent a mile away...so it'S either Eric, or me! I would LOVE that job!...but I would be seriously hated!
blackhawkpat
Now, Jennifer Lopez has announced on Ryan Seacrest's radio show that she will not return, either.
Paulie Mississippi
If Eric becomes a judge, I'll actually start watching!
Tony Cartmill
It would be a great choice...However, Clive Davis is a business partner with creator Simon Fuller...Clive would suggest someone else write Eric's opnions and insights...all to boost ratings, of course. If she is smart, Mariah Carey will probably replace J-Lo...after she sees how it resurrected J-Lo's music career...and big booties are back in style!"Listen up Dawg" Randy needs to stop calling the chick contestants "Dawg" and "Dude"...It kind of makes you cringe.
Anne
I would love to see Eric on TV all the time. I rarely watch Idol but wouldn't miss it if he were on!
Raspbernie
Solid idea. Really! Has ANY song been performed more of the program than "All By Myself?"Bernie

Zuke
OH WELL! Eric missed out.... Hey Bernie, did you ever ask Eric about this idea? And, yes, last year was a disaster with that line up of judges... I feel sorry for Keith Urban. BUT! THIS YEAR!!! With J-Lo and Harry Connick Jr., I think it will be a GOOD Show. Harry was great as a guest, helping the singers, telling them to "Sing the Song" and quit all the vocal acrobatics.
Mary Ellen
I've seen this show, but don't follow it. Yes, Harry is a cool New Orleans cat . It takes a smooth and talented guy like Harry to negotiate that crazy hornets' nest of judges. I feel sorry for Keith Urban too. He is too nice and is accustomed to his wife, Nicole who is a poised, intelligent diva.
redd
Dear c-girl, Very nice post (as usual) re: "idol". Mmmmm, forgot Harry Connick was from N.O. Oh yeah, he IS a cool cat! Might be worth tuning in here and there just to see him...Haha Saw the 2012 posts (before our ec website time) Can you in your wildest dreams imagine Eric as a judge?!! I would never miss an episode, would you? redd
Mary Ellen
Redd, Harry is one of the stars of N.O. music - and we have many. He was singing and playing piano around town at the age of 5! I know he studied under Ellis Marsalis, and don't forget, Harry also did the soundtrack to the movie When Harry Met Sally. Can't imagine missing Eric on "Idol." Girl, you know I would just sit in front of the t.v. waiting for the show to come on and not leave the house. Between regular episodes, I would occupy my time watching re-runs! redd
Dear c-girl, Admittedly don't know a lot of Harry Connick's background. Bet he was adorable entertaining at the tender age of 5, not unlike someone we know, heh A talented child prodigy for sure. Will have to do a bit of research on that 'cool cat'. As for seeing EC on live TV every week, I can't even wrap my mind around it. Am sure we would be hanging on every word he spoke. Could imagine turning into 14 year old teeneyboppers and getting to Idol's studio; someway, somehow. KNOW you'd be able to score us some passes to the show. Well, a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do, right? <3 From your partner-in-crime, redd :)
Mary Ellen
Harry was a prodigy and though I'm only a little younger than Harry it was fun to actually see him grow up playing and singing around N.O. Yes, he has similarities to Eric, but the N.O. music culture is so different and has so many different styles. HC meshed the styles together well and as Ira posted in a different thread, HC has that Rat Pack thing going too. Eric has a more classically integrated style which is perfect for his voice and stellar talents. Yes, I'd shamelessly revert to school girl again with ease if Eric could be seen on Idol.
